Bandoliers and vest to carry it all? Or 1 AR in 1 hand and pockets full of mags head to toe and what's left over goes clamped under your other arm?

Remington can remake it in a different shape and color if they want and call it the PRR-80. Better yet call it the Happy Unicorn Rainbow Shooter (HURS - 15). Everyone will be happy. Then the hysteria will die down, people can feel like they have done something about the problem, and those with sense can focus on actually doing something about the real problem. People who want to kill everyone they know.

Gun rights people should not be bothered. It is not any more of a problem edging in in on gun rights than banning automatic rifles or bump stocks. Gun control advocates can feel like the won and they accomplished something.
So what? It will make no difference to anyone. Just get it done and quit wasting time and resources non this stupid issue. We need meaningful action on the real problem before this happens again. (Of course it will happen again and again and again, especially if we just keep trying to ban various weapons, tools and substances.
I'm down with that, it's what they did before. The banned HK got renamed the SAR 8 and off we go. It changed nothing but at least they shut up.

I have a couple 22 revolvers like that. One was left to me by my late FIL.

https://www.amazon.com/Condor-Recon-.../dp/B007VHHJFE

That's a start. A few MOLLE mag pouches on the sides and a few on your battle belt and you are all set. They are all available from Amazon Prime.

600 rounds loaded into magazines would be around 22 lbs.

You need to add a rifle that weighs 7.5 lbs, which brings the total to be around 30 lbs.

How could anybody with a rifle and 20 magazines strapped on him walk into a school unopposed?

You cant carry a gun and a backpack that weights 22 pounds? Not that hard. These kind of hindsight prognostications are always so dumb.

I mean, why didn't we just post 30 Marines at the entrance to stop him? WHERE WERE THE MARINES HUH?

Two different things.

The moment you drive your car on public road, you put other people in danger. So, yes you need insurance.

The moment you carry your gun outside, you put nobody in danger. Why should you need insurance? You need someone to pull the trigger to shoot.

Are your children more important than your money?

Try to walk in a bank like that unopposed.
