Incorrect.

NRA is made up of individual Americans, about 5 million of them.

NSSF is made up of gun manufactures and everyone in between.

Do you not know that?

The people who say to ban ar-15's are really interesting. Why do people bring up solutions when they have ZERO knowledge about firearms? I wouldn't give anyone medical advice since I am not a doctor.

I can talk to people that are anti gun until i'm blue in the face. There is no reasoning with them because they are making irrational and emotional decisions when they have ZERO knowledge about the subject at hand. They ignore facts and let their emotions dictate their lives. Lets lay some things out.

There will no be assault weapons ban GUARANTEED. We have the house, senate, and president. If it flips in 2020 legislation could get passed but it wont do any good. There are millions and millions of semi auto rifles in possession in this county. With a ban looming sales will sky rocket and the majority of gun owners wont give them up. Look at crime stats from the last assault weapons ban. Did nothing. A few shootings should dictate millions of owners? Give me a break.

The only thing you might get now is an nics fix and thats it.

Here is how to fix school shootings.

Reporting to NICS needs an overhaul since it's broken. That kid should not have been allowed to purchase a firearm. Remove schools from gun free zones, and allow conceal carriers to carry on school property. National reciprocity needs to be passed. Start a training program for school workers to carry firearms in school. Hire armed security for schools, and upgrade schools to be more secure to restrict people from entering the building and individual classrooms.

Times are changing, and these psychos are picking easy targets. Guess what? Schools are easy targets. My solutions above makes them less of a target and protects our children.

We can all agree that we want our kids safe. I dont want psychos to have guns in their possession and neither do you. Law abiding gun owners want to be left alone. We are not the problem and we should have ZERO restrictions on what we do with firearms. Your solutions of more laws will do nothing. Look at the facts and stop solving problems with emotions. It's stupid.

FYI an ar-15 is not an assault weapon. AR stands for Armalite rifle the company that designed it. Saying this just shows your ignorance.

Home invasions can happen anywhere at any time. Wile my zip code is about 10x below the national crime statistics, there have been two home invasions in the last few years.

It's like a house fire, they are extremely rare but the effects can be devastating. Insurance limits those effects. My gun is my insurance policy against a violent encounter.

I work from home and have for 12 years. While upstairs in my office, anyone could ring my front doorbell and I won't hear it. Their first thought is that no one is home. I won't notice anything until a break-in is in progress based on the location of my office. At that point I have no other choice but to protect myself and my family.

The Police in the UK take the following position in relation to mental health issues and a person's 'fitness' to be entrusted with a firearm.
If you have mental health issues and you are deemed too dangerous to own a firearm, you are too dangerous to walk the streets. A firearm is just one of many tools that can be used to harm others.

But yes, not all mental health are equal and I am certainly not implying that someone with that is not dangerous should be incarcerated.

Ok, we've got this far into the thread without too much derailment or foaming at the mouth emotional rants.

Fact = banning the AR-15 will not stop mass shootings. So, where do we go from here?

Ban all firearms, ok what steps need taken. Does the Govt do a buy back and do they do it at market value? Do they compensate all the businesses that produce and sell firearms that will be put out of business? Restrict ammo sales?

Go another route and do more to protect soft targets that are the choice of killers?

What LEGAL options do we have to prevent future mass shootings.
