No; we're trying to import foreigners who already have a graduate education or who are willing to write a check for tuition.

No, education of the masses is seen as a threat by the ruling donor class that runs America. A highly educated and informed public is not something the ruling class is interested in. Harmful for the economy, sure, but good for the status of the elites who fund the campaigns of the politicians.

"Many grad students — especially in Ph.D. programs — receive tuition waivers in exchange for teaching classes or doing research. Under current law, that money isn't taxed as income. But the new bill calls for those tuition waivers to be counted as income and subjected to income taxes.

That means graduate students would be paying taxes on money they never receive."
That sounds like an issue between the students and the university. No tax breaks for performing worthless "research" or being a substitute for pampered college students. The rules are changing. Get ready.

A PhD? You don't know that. His interests and abilities will determine what he does in college. For all you know he could become a politician or a Walmart manager. Write your Congressman.

"A majority of Americans of all incomes will benefit from the Tax Cut & Jobs Act that House Republicans have just passed."

"At every income level, there's a boost to after-tax income."

That is good enough for me, my family would save 2k from the plan, Middle class no kids. If the senate botches this I'm sending them a bill, and probably cry.

Are they going to start taxing undergraduate scholarships too? Because I fail to see the difference between a tuition waiver for graduate school and a scholarship for undergrad. Better start looking at primary primary schools and such that offer breaks on tuition as well.

I shall give some free advice to my Republican friends in the US House:

If President Trump invites you to the Rose Garden to celebrate passage of the bill: don't go.

IT'S A TRAP!

Seriously, if no tax reform is passed, Mr. Trump will toss you ALL under the bus.

Good work House, now crank up the pressure on the Senate. This bill may be what can save your skins in 2018.

The American dream is roaring back if the senate let's it
