What, exactly, did he get them to agree to that they didn't already want to do and weren't already doing?

He's an easily manipulated moron who just needs a show and some butt kissing.

He's just like his base in that sense. All they require is a stupid hat and for him to pretend he's on their side even though he does nothing to help them.

All Trump did on his trip is show that the US has ceded leadership in the world and Asia, in particular, to China. The MAGA president is destroying our standing in the world and China and Russia are laughing and laughing that we have such a fool in office. Look they say, "Look at the fools that get elected to office in a democracy". That is what the world saw in Asia.

You're absolutely right. If our broader goal was to spread Democracy across the world, we haven't done ourselves any favors by electing this ******. All we've done is prove that it's possible even in a mature, established political system..

Why was "con man" edited with asterisks? Is that profanity now?

Your Obama fool gave up billions to Iran, let ISIS proliferate, never got anything from China and made the U.S. the biggest laughingstock in the world but now Trump gets the U.S. back to respectability.
It's absolutely hilarious to watch them try and put a negative spin on his historical trip to Asia.

They desperately try so hard to find any little thing, remember the fish food and how they tried to lie and say Trump dumped it first to try and make it sound like he did something wrong?

That was like, day 1 of his trip and the MSM was already full of crap.

You and the other uninformed MSNBC watchers on here obviously haven't been studying world events.

The U.S. ceded absolutely nothing, that's the stupid statement that keeps getting tossed around by the shills on here and the MSM.

China changed it's stance in regards to a few things so they are becoming a little more liked in the eyes of some of the countries in Asia, such as Vietnam and the Philippines.

The U.S. has no influence on that whatsoever, China can talk to and play ball with whoever they want to. China is the main power in their hemisphere.

Like it or not, we need to learn to work with the Chinese.

My grandpa went to China after Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. Back then, Chinese government would do anything to attract foreign investors because they cared about their world image. My grandpa "forced" us all to learn the language and culture because he believed China would become the next industrial super power.

Look where they are now!

At one time, during the Cheney/Rumsfeld/Bolton era, there were some talk about containing China, but they were so distracted by wanting to shock and awe the people in Middle East that they didn’t really do much to actually contain China.

Under Obama, he explicitly said that he had no interest in containing China but Hillary certainly would like to and probably Obama secretly had the same wish. But again the over extended Uncle Sam was too bogged down in ME to implement much of a plan.

Trump has been smarter than either of his predecessors. First he hired Navarro as a feint to keep China off balance then he has been saying all the nice things about Xi and China.

Personally, I have no ideas what Trump would do and I hope he would do a good job. Reality is that China is NOT a rich country and many cities (majority of the cities) are still very much third world. Right now, it is a good time to keep them in check.

China does have a vision for the world’s future, but it bears no resemblance to the “Pax Americana” that the US has imposed by military force upon the world since the end of WWII.

China’s vision for the world’s future is summed up on its “One Belt, One Road” or “OBOR” initiative. This vision is economic, not military. It is voluntary, not compulsory. It is mutually profitable, not unilaterally exploitive.

Working with the Chinese looks like a better option to me.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just like the winning chess move

Develop multiple pieces (Rooks, Knights, Queen, Bishop) early and often. Get them out of their starting spots to open up your options. (in this case, Rooks, Knights, queen, bishop can be Japan, South Korea, other Asian countries, trade, one China policy)

Control the center. ... (China and Russia)

Protect the King. (the U.S.)

Also want to add, I don't think xi is all that ... smart (for lack of a better word)

Xi deals with different problems, but his goals are united — to make his country better.

President Trump’s work is slightly more difficult than that of Xi’s.

Trump needs to deal with a politically polarized country, the elitist political circle in his country and the threats from social media companies taking control of the popular opinion against him. His goal will be 1) reunite the country again, and bring democrats and republicans from their endless quarrels and maintain US’s leadership in the world. 2) let politicians in both parties to recognize a “plebeian” or commoner like him to recognize him and work unanimously for his goal However, he has no experience in politics and is still considered a “novice”) 3) Free commoners in his country from the control of social media companies and the government.

Xi, on the other hand, only needs to “realize the great resurrection of the Chinese ethnicity”. He has a party that fully supports him, the love and respect from the majority of Chinese and a booming economy. He needs to: 1) keep the high-soaring nationalism 3) keep the control of his party 3) keep the Chinese status in geopolitics and international politics.

In order to achieve these goals, Trump needs to play foolish and Xi needs to play smart.

IF only there could have been a negotiated multilateral agreement that could have come along and given the US more influence in the region, that would have been something....

BTW- it's -it's been asked several times what China "gave up" or agreed to that Trumpsters keep speaking about, yet not one actual example given.

Exactly. We had an opportunity to be a major player in the region. Instead, we'll be sitting on the sidelines while China runs the show.

And we're obviously not going to get an answer, because they've got nothing. Read their posts, it's nothing but "Trump's so awesome" and "Look how awful Obama was!" They have nothing concrete to point to.
