The one excerpt I would disagree with in the article is describing the culture there as "tolerant" when it's better described as gay friendly.
Tolerant is extremely "values centered" meaning that lot of intolerant people actually aren't but consider themselves to be so relative to their own beliefs and values.
Haven't you learned yet that diversity is just code word for anti white male?
10 percent in Palm Springs? It's gotta be higher than that, much higher. One of the local magazines out here put it at 40 percent a while back.
I lived there about 10 years ago and yes it has a very high percentage of gay residents. They don't bother anyone and in fact most of the ones I knew were very nice people. Palm Springs is indeed a very unique city in many ways. Beautiful in the winter but Hades in the summer. A stroll down the downtown area is indeed a must do experience. The whole surrounding area is simply amazing.
So instead of electing people because they are qualified, we now elect people specifically for their sexual orientation, race, or gender?
I took the glass is half full approach and gave them the benefit of the doubt. My first thought was "So what, as long as they are qualified and do a good job."
If the panel was instead all white, all black, all male, or all female, would we still be talking about the power of all ______ politics?
