They don't even pull Social Security from their paychecks.

That's not the issue. At least in California, pay, pensions and benefits do not reflecting what is being offered in a private free market. They are called golden parachutes for a reason.

Yes, of course. It is a certainty. I'd do it.

Most people go through life with no retirement benefits other than Social Security, and would do any job without retirement benefits.

There are way too many government employees, and pension and retirement benefits are way, way, way too generous.

The good news is at least the retirees are Americans rather than immigrants, so for once the government isn't using our tax dollars to finance our replacement.

You're correct. It's either 403b, 457 or another section of the current tax code.
