Interesting idea. I think public education in this country has gone into the toilet. And I don't have kids, so if this caught on, I'd financially benefit. But this would likely collapse what's left of public education. And if you think society is unraveling now, just wait to see what the results of that would be.
lol.
NOPE , if want that, then you pay a SURCHARGE when using any service that the state educational sytem contributed too.
thus that nurse, you owe a surcharge every time she works with you, because the state took her through the first 12 years.
Oops you gain from everyone's education everyday. When your clients can read the sign to find your store and when the research folk come up with "cas 9" or when the state AG locks up a thug who almost got away due to an excellent defence attorney.
you me we all gain when people are educated. Your lack of kids and my double dose of kids has little to do with how "WE" gain. the kids gain of course, but so do you. thus no deal unless you want to pay for the many varied benefits we all receive when the masses are educated.
this comes up all the time, it is not new and just as everyone pays into national defence even if there is no war during their life (fine chance) just as we all pay for roads even if we are house bound.
the deal is simple. Everyone pays in, everyone gains in many ways. If you don't to pay for my kids to learn, than you should not expect to be allowed to avail of the benefits. maybe my kid ends up serving fries, but unless he or she can read and do basic math, you don't get the fries. or maybe the new heart etc...
Stupid reactionary idea. Everyone benefits from a good education system. People who walk shouldn't have to pay for roads, people who live inland shouldn't have to pay for the coast guard.

So how could you possibly know the education system then if you don't have kids. I have teachers in my family. My sister teaches special ed kids. The system is failing because no one wants to invest in their education in public schools. They would rather pay for charter and private schools. Teachers have to pay out of pocket for their supplies because schools can't afford to supplement them
Better schools means higher property values, more tax money for police and fire fighters, which further improves the area, etc., etc. Schools are the main base that creates the supply/demand for higher quality of life neighborhoods/towns. So, everyone benefits in that school district - hence, they should all have to pay taxes that support them.
People can always choose to live somewhere with terrible schools and cheaper prices. But, if you want all of the benefits from living in an area with good schools, you have to contribute.
They're closing the "environmental improvements" loophole in Wisconsin, which schools were using to push through millions in spending without seeking voter approval.
In life it's all about balance... you spend money when needed on things that are necessary. You don't blow money on unnecessary embellishments unless the voters approve of it.
They have a history in Wisconsin of ramming through school referendums for vote 3, 4, even 5 times until they finally pass.
Ultimately we do have to pay for education and subsidize people with kids. It's just how the system works. It's better than having no taxes and relying on the goodness of corporations and businesses to provide. I do support school choice, however. Better performing schools that use funds more efficiently should be rewarded. You shouldn't solve a problem of a bad school by throwing more money at it, because that doesn't work. The Milwaukee Public Schools are a good example of how to NOT do things.
And if you think society is unraveling now, just wait to see what the results of that would be.
There’s no need to wait to see the results. We have a glimpse of it now in states like; West Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and Louisiana. All with traditionally some of the overall least educated populous’ and the worst public education systems in the nation.
Oh, all very Republican and overwhelmingly Trump Country.
