If TransCanada decides to build, that schedule means oil would start flowing through the pipeline just before the 2020 presidential election — but that any further delays could complicate Trump's ability to boast about Keystone when he runs for re-election.

The pipeline with all the controversy has not been built. This was an existing pipeline not the one Trump signed off on. It could have happened even if the Hildabeast was president.

Reading comprehension is fun.

Keystone Pipeline is operational, the Keystone Xl is not.

But something needs to be done, these oil spills are common enough. We are killing ecosystems around the world, the damage we do to the environment is irreversible.

No

I am not a trumpster but most of the comments here are that this is Trump's fault and the media usually does not differentiate between Keystone and Keystone XL.

For example in USA Today in 2015:

Obama administration rejects Keystone pipeline

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...line/75293270/

Whatever you think about oil companies spilling oil is the last thing they want to do. Pipelines are better and safer than Tanker trucks.

Obama was anti-oil and that was why he opposed it.

Dude stop promising just about *every* statement you make with “not a trumpster” or some equivalent, it’s not needed, unless you’re trying to cover for something.

This is about the keystone pipeline. Not the keystone xl. I don’t care what the media says.

It might sounds too much like conspiracy theory but talk about a strange concindence then the Keystone Pipeline spill would happen just days before South Dakota made a decision upon going forward.

Keystone is up and running -- Keystone XL is not yet running. Keystone XL was delayed because there was no demand. In September Trans Canada said that they have been told that there is sufficient demand now to proceed with Keystone XL but I don't think they have started construction yet -- and definitely it's not running. It does a person good to keep searching to get the complete picture.

This latest leak (there have been others) is just support for those that argue the potential for error is too large.
