Flying a modern fighter is a complex task, they have time and fuel to keep these pilots current, flying skills can degrade rapidly without frequent use.

As a former AF Pilot......Navy did good!

Whats crazy about fuel though.....DOD is the largest buyer of fuel in the world. They buy at pre negotiated rates below market value. The DOD then sells the fuel at above market rates to each individual branch.
