As far as Hillary's vote margin in the popular vote it's a non argument. If the rules were changed so do the campaigns and the voter turnout.
In a four-way race, to carry the popular vote, a candidate would need to have as many votes as his or her next competitor with the number of votes cast for all other candidates added to that number, plus 1.
If candidates A and B collect 9 votes and 8 votes, respectively, but candidates C and D together receive a total of 3 votes, candidate A doesn't win the popular vote unless he or she gets at least 11 votes, plus one.
I keep hearing that Hillary won the popular vote because she had 3 million more votes than Trump, but this would only be true in a two candidate race.
Otherwise, the votes cast for Stein, Johnson, et. al., will be treated the same as not having been cast, and this for the sake of a hypothetical two candidate race that never actually took place.
Thing is you made up this fantasy that a bunch of illegals voted. There is no evidence of it, while there is a lot of evidence showing that voter fraud is a very low-frequency event. Not that facts and such matter for Trumpers.
Trump just pushes this story because he's such a butt-hurt narcissist upset about not winning the popular vote. Never seen such a sore winner in my life.
Hillary won the popular vote in 2008 and 2016.
The 2008 vote was arguable but claimed by Hillary.
We can change the vote of record to accommodate Hillary next time and then change it back for any subsequent democrat candidate.
The electoral college save the country from rule by an incompetent criminal in 2008 and 2016. 2012 was a rigged election by suppressing the conservative vote, weaponizing federal agencies to intimidate voters and the media, spied on using false warrants and judge shopping, use of a propaganda machine which never challenged the claim the world was a more tranquil place, AQ was on the run and a video caused the attack in Benghazi. So a corrupt Obama admin neutralized the electoral college in 2012.
Nobody I know "brags" about Hillary winning the popular vote. If it is raised it is usually because some Trump nut lies and states that Trump won in a huge landslide or some such nonsense.
Form the record, Hillary is not president though it seems most Repubs wish she were given all the posts about her.

I don't think it is a matter of bragging. Losing the electoral college was a difficult blow and no one will dispute that. However, the Donald did not get the largest crowd size ever for his inauguration and he did not win a plurality of the voters. By and large the people didn't want him. To underscore that point, less people wanted him in office than 'crooked Hillary'. That is how poorly the man is regarded.
The claim that millions of illegal immigrants voted is baseless. The Trump camp was trying to establish that they have a mandate from the people for their agenda, and that is simply not the case. More voters opposed the Donald than supported him.
He isn't the first president to win the white house without a majority of the voters behind him at first, it is nothing to be ashamed of, but it places an additional burden on the administration to find some way of working for the common good and bringing the nation together.
Had he pivoted toward accommodation to be president of all the people, this would not be an issue. The man simply will not take his fellow citizens into account in his decision making. He acts more like a rampaging conqueror than a man of the people, so they will not support him and his close circle of billionaires.
