I guarantee you a cull in the herd is coming when this AI takes off. Just read a history book. Humans are ruthless.
I agree.
Plus no work comp, no medical insurance etc paid to robots.

My brothers run my family's farm in Southern Minnesota since Mom and Dad died. We already have auto steer tractors so the operator just sits and watches the tractor and the machinery while the satellite guides the tractor. You've never seen such straight and neat crop rows.

The next generation of tractors we buy will not have a seat for an operator. Tip of the iceberg.

Not good (no personal attack on you and your family)

When a youth works their first job they learn so much.
How to socialize, problem solve, have pride, learn how to cope, have dignity. We all get thru our whole work life. It taps into an area of the brain that is so very important.

Yes, it is the tip of the iceberg and I do not like it.

I'm with you, believe me. I have no say in how things are run on the farm. I turned that down a long time ago. But this is what they will have to do to stay in the business. The profit margin is just too thin.

The government runs family farms, no matter what anyone else says. Without the subsidies it would fold. That is the way the gov wants it. So they give you a razor thin profit margin to work with. Automation will not be an option.

This is all absurd and irrational. Robots are tools created by man. Just like cars and crescent wrenches and space ships. All tools can be used for good or evil. Man is inherently good, so ultimately, robots will benefit all of us by eliminating jobs that are basically repetitive drudgery and elevating the entire concept of valuable labor.

When has technology been used for anything other than evil initially in the past 50 years?

What was the first thing that went up on the internet? Pornography.

Excellent! When you think about it, it is a complete waste of time for a human to sit on top of an agricultural machine that is operating in what is basically a grid. Robots and machines eliminate this nonsense, freeing up man for bigger and better things.

And it all started with the wheel.

What people really hate is the fact that they are forced to learn new things or become obsolete. Everyone wants it easy. Life is NOT easy, nor should it be, nor will it be. The fact that life is TEMPORARY and DIFFICULT is what makes it valuable and challenging and fun.

So very well stated. I agree completely, and also think this is one of the biggest reasons we are seeing so many people in our society just snapping and going off the deep end.
