We really need to impeach Clarence Thomas, who made this whole mess possible.

WOW, what a cynic you are!

I guess the other judges votes didn't count.

Why do people like you ALWAYS blames someone else instead of taking responsibility for your OWN actions?

The taxes on the middle class are already low, so why drive up the national debt by cutting them further? Besides, this tax plan will increase taxes on many in the middle class, and small businesses, so its a moot point. For me this is by far the largest tax hike in my lifetime.

Complaining about what the minority party is supposedly not doing doesn't change the fact that the incompetent Republicans aren't doing a thing. The Dems can't get legislation passed because the Republicans have a supermajority in all branches of government. The Republicans can't get any legislation passed because of ???

Neither party has had a decent tax plan The right think that the rich should pay less taxes then the working class, while the left (who are rich themselves) think the rich should pay more yet some how they get rich off of it too. It's all a scam no matter which party you lean towards we the working class get the shaft while the rich get richer nothing to see here keep moving.

More Than 8.3 Million Jobs Created Since August 2003 In Longest Continuous Run Of Job Growth On Record

WASHINGTON -- Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released new jobs figures - 18,000 jobs created in December. Since August 2003, more than 8.3 million jobs have been created, with more than 1.3 million jobs created throughout 2007. Our economy has now added jobs for 52 straight months - the longest period of uninterrupted job growth on record. The unemployment rate remains low at 5 percent. The U.S. economy benefits from a solid foundation, but we cannot take economic growth for granted and economic indicators have become increasingly mixed. President Bush will continue working with Congress to address the challenges our economy faces and help facilitate long-term economic growth, job growth, and better standards of living for all Americans.

* Real GDP grew at a strong 4.9 percent annual rate in the third quarter of 2007. The economy has now experienced six years of uninterrupted growth, averaging 2.8 percent a year since 2001.

* Real after-tax per capita personal income has risen by 11.7 percent - an average of more than $3,550 per person - since President Bush took office.

* Over the course of this Administration, productivity growth has averaged 2.6 percent per year. This growth is well above average productivity growth in the 1990s, 1980s, and 1970s.

By 2003, Mr. Bush grasped this lesson. In that year, he cut the dividend and capital gains rates to 15 percent each, and the economy responded. In two years, stocks rose 20 percent. In three years, $15 trillion of new wealth was created. The U.S. economy added 8 million new jobs from mid-2003 to early 2007, and the median household increased its wealth by $20,000 in real terms.

But the real jolt for tax-cutting opponents was that the 03 Bush tax cuts also generated a massive increase in federal tax receipts. From 2004 to 2007, federal tax revenues increased by $785 billion, the largest four-year increase in American history. According to the Treasury Department, individual and corporate income tax receipts were up 40 percent in the three years following the Bush tax cuts. And (bonus) the rich paid an even higher percentage of the total tax burden than they had at any time in at least the previous 40 years. This was news to theNew York Times, whose astonished editorial board could only describe the gains as a “surprise windfall.â€
Omg

You cited the early 2000's bubble, which led to the 08 financial crisis when it popped, to defend your ideology?

Is it me? Am I the crazy one?

This America, the "land of opportunity"

We "create" MORE millionaires a year then any other country in the world.

I have NEVER understood why so many want to PUNISH the successful.

Jealousy, I guess!
There are far more losers than there are winners, and those "winners" drive up the cost of living for the "losers" in their area due to the displacement effect, making the majority even poorer in real terms

The Democrats and their supporters are complaining. I'm merely asking about what ideas the Democrats have to offer with respect to taxes. With all the complaining we're hearing from the left, you'd think that the Democrats had a much better plan to offer the American people, but if the responses in this thread are any indication, then the Democrats are totally clueless. It's funny that the left is simultaneously complaining that the Republican plan is helping corporations, and hurting 401ks and IRAs. How can that possibly be the case? If increased profits lead to stock buybacks, then retirement plans will directly increase in value.

Just FYI, a supermajority is when a party has the Presidency, a majority in the House, and 60 Senators or more. The Republicans only have 52 Senators and therefore do not have a supermajority. The last supermajority was held be the Democrats during Obama's first 2 years in office. The result was the disaster known as Obamacare.

See, this is the problem with the Liberal mindset....

You think 25% of my income is "low"?

And that's before state and local taxes.

Before property taxes.

Before sales taxes......

Gasoline taxes.....

"luxury" taxes........

Taxes disguised as "Fees" ......ad nauseam.

By the time all is said and done the middle class probably pays half their income in some sort of tax.

I do take responsibility for my own actions, but I don't pay off Senators and Representatives or pay the wife of a Supreme Court Judge $100,000 while he is hearing one of my cases.

Now explain to me why people like you have no sense of honesty.

The only plan is to increase taxes on various things under the guise of being socially responsible. Every increase is painted as being necessary for human rights or saving the planet or equality or something. When you see it you can't unsee it, but it's still just a money grab.
