10,000 people died waiting for a disability decision in the past year | The Washington Post

Hard for me to imagine - being in construction and heavy equipment my whole life - how vinyl siding installation ruins a person for good.....but who I am to judge?

I suppose depression has a lot to do with it - not exactly a full life sitting in the trailer watching the tube.

50 lbs roll he was lifting? Heck, I'm 64 and I can still do a bundle of shingles easily (70 lbs, sometimes more)....

But, in any case, how is Trump helping these forgotten people. The stats show 10,000 plus are dying each year while waiting for a decision. No wonder the white person (male especially) mortality is dropping in this country.

MAGA - don't make me laugh! The troops are having Starbucks over in Syria and our own people are dying by the tens of thousands due to lack of resources.

from your link

"In the past two years, 18,701 people have died while waiting for a judge’s decision, increasing 15 percent from 8,699 deaths in fiscal 2016 to 10,002 deaths in fiscal 2017,"

The problem was there before trump but since your president isn't in office it's now a big deal? The best part of your partisanship is complaining about Syria when your president could have solved that problem too by bringing the troops home which the president has the authority to do. You didn't complain about that either did you?

We had our chance. The only person who wanted to bring the troops was ignored often enough by the press and so the message didn't get out like it should. That was Ron Paul.

Ignore your guy while blaming the other guy. You either believe in something or you don't. Policy over party. It's always about policy.

This is probably due to so much fraud involved, a lot of people try to scam the system and get full disability for life, like anything else, a relatively small number of scammers ruins it for the people who truly need it.

Same exact thing happening with the opiate prescription drug laws, the small percentage of people abusing them ruined it for everyone, those who truly needed these drugs to function can no longer get them, DEA and Govt have doctors and pharmacies scared to death.

what a stupid thread..

First the left passes ACA using the argument that people were just going into the hospitals and ringing up the tab, thereby passing the expense onto society,

now its people are dying, while waiting for government benefits, as if no one who is sick ever is allowed to die..

This thread could very well be titled, ACA doesnt help 10,000 people who DIED because its a failure... it would have been just as stupid to blame ACA for people dying...

I was unaware that Presidents can stop people from dying..

hell, I was even unaware that simply collecting disability meant you couldnt die.. Where does one sign up for this fountain of youth?

The story discusses an individual who

"Stewart had first applied for federal disability benefits on May 21, 2015. "
