Not surprising. This happens often.

Well, it sounded like you were trying to undervalue a widespread and legitimate problem. All blacks that are part of the professional workforce knows this and many have experienced it first hand... It might not be "always" but it's widespread...

This is rampant around here. Every fire and police department in nearby cites is overwhelmingly white. All the cities are majority minority. In Albany, the hired a guy for fireman who as 17th on the civil service list over several better scoring black candidates. He was the County Executive's nephew.

Every city has a law that firemen and policemen must live in the city. Hardly any of the do. Not even 10%. Not even the chiefs and commissioners.

Your example is nepotism, not racism, plus you said "several blacks" not that all 17 ahead on the list were black, which I can assume meaning some other races, including whites, were also a victim of this.

Lol, every city does not have a requirement to live in the city, I have no idea where you got that from. Hell, the NAACP has even sued cities because they deemed such residency requirements as discriminatory.

Something like this has happened at my job before. Certain favorable jobs being handed to white employees without them being posted for everybody to have a legit fair shot at those jobs.
And I have never seen a black Engineer or black supporting staff layed off in the Defense/Aerospace industry, after 17 years in the business, even after 4 mass layoffs. Only one black female Engineer was terrible, but the rest were good or held their own. Same applied to any other big company job I have had, they were big into recruiting minority, and specifically black Engineers.

That's true, the example is of nepotism instead of racism.

But the white PDs and FDs in minority cities is racism. Maybe combined with nepotism. All the new hires are relatives of someone already in. Maybe a guy in Troy gets hired in Albany and there's a vice versa quid pro quo. The effect, though, is to keep the blacks and others out.

I am correct, thank you. And for the exact meaning I was thinking of. Are you posts even about Capt. Derek Streeter? I don't have time to read through each of those links but especially if they're off topic...
