Sexual harassment: Here are some of the biggest cases

The Dam of Congressional Sexual-Harassment Claims Cracks Open

Yep, and because of that, it is doubtful they will be put under scrutiny ... Which makes these types of allegations a perfect way to do a Character Assassination ... and remove a person who would otherwise be thought of as having good character from influence and silence them in our society.

Our overreacting to this, as well as claims of racisim etc, poses a potential risk of "boy who cried wolf" backlash of disbelief..... or at least an increasd burden on the "victims" to prove that allegations have merit.

If we're not careful, we as a society, could end up minimizing whatever "injustices" we are trying to fight against.

A great example is the NFL kneeling business......

It has grown into such a ridiculous side show that the original purpose and message of the players gets lost in the hullabaloo and in the end a lot of people just tune it out.....both figuratively and literally.

When everything is a crisis.....nothing is a crisis.

She was grilled relentlessly in 9 congressional hearings by a republican biased committee, their final conclusion was they could find no wrong doing on her part.

If your wife, sister or daughter were sexually assaulted, would you say the assailant was innocent because of lack of evidence? Of course not. The legal standard does not determine quilt or innocence; it determines who can be FOUND guilty in a court of law...a very structured, specific and codified set of rules. You people are being willfully obstuse because you don’t care about the victims and you’re invested in Roy Moore’s success.

Do the accusers seem plausible? Are there multiple accusers with believable stories? Are there non-victims who are familiar with the accused and back up the victims? Is the alleged behavior fitting with the accused's general attitude and behavior?

If the answers are yes, then sorry, but your reputation is destroyed.
Agreed, but sometimes it only takes one person with a vendetta to destroy a life with false accusations. In the workplace for example, if there is a he-said she-said sexual harassment accusation, HR will act to defend the company, even if there is no proof or multiple accusers. Happens every day. The only recourse that individual has is a lawsuit, and if it is a big company, how far do you think they will get? It's a big problem with no solution that I can see.

What is the end goal behind this lower standard and why do we as a society overwhemingly give the accusers the benefit of the doubt when false accusations are not at all uncommon?

Has the need for actual evidence become passé?
Depends.

If a repub is accused of anything he is automatically guilty, Clarence Thomas.

If a dem is accused of anything they are automatically innocent, Bill Clinton.

Trump is accused of "colluding" with the Russians and many dem IMMEDIATELY called for his impeachment when not 1 single piece of evidence had been provided.

Hillary had classified material on her private server, deleted content AFTER getting a subpoena to do so but, she didn't break any laws and is innocent of ALL wrongdoings.

The list is VERY LONG of examples.

If Democrats had a President who acted like this with his accusations from women how long do you think he would last? Trump is now a Republican and Republicans always protect their own. We heard what Trump does to women from his own mouth. Some thinking he is just doing locker room antics. Give me a break... He is a molester face it.
