Do away with it? Seriously? No.

The State is already making swipes at the free press. They should not be allowed to bar free enterprise.

What a ridiculous idea.

If you don't like it don't go shopping.

I actually don't know anyone who does this anymore.

Unfortunately, thanks to Republicans ~ fewer and fewer employees are unionized. Instead - we can all be fired if management dislikes our socks.

Congratulations for being the one and only poster to introduce race into a thread where it obviously does not belong.

Everyone's a lib according to that poster... simply because they want to ban something. Haven't you figured that out yet?

you're right, I should have said progressive because they are on both sides of the aisle and love to ban sodas, tell us what to eat, who to like, what guns we can own,who to sell wedding cakes to...
Identify with any of that?

Looks like black friday is getting less and less over the years. The mall by me had almost no 1 there when i went by around 730am.

Plus, having a day dedicated to shopping and materialism right after a day dedicated to thankfulness seems tragically ironic if you ask me.

And I can see it coming, some will bring up the free market, but why are we as consumers going along with this instead of refusing to play along? If we don't stop it, Thanksgiving could eventually become a working day, maybe a working holiday, but a working day nonetheless. Plus, they can have their crazy shopping frenzy some day OTHER than right after Thanksgiving.

(Also, I might add, that the lure of Black Friday is being dulled by the "Black Thursday" sales as Friday becomes less important.)
Revisiting this because I didn't realize you were a progressive liberal until Frank DeForrest pointed it out in this thread.

As a conservative Christian, the celebration of black Friday (or even stores being open on Sunday) does not bother me. As a Christian, I have no judge people or retailers alike.

I can't relate to the progressive liberal views that you, MongooseHugger, and Frank DeForrest share... but I can share my own.
