At the time, and even continuing now, Republicans were forever damning Hillary Clinton for supposedly being lax about security during her tenure as Secretary of State, particularly apropos of Benghazi. Right?

Now, here's this:

Diplomats Sound the Alarm as They Are Pushed Out in Droves
By Gardiner Harris

Republicans pilloried Hillary Clinton for what they claimed was her inadequate attention to security as secretary of state in the months before the deadly 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya... But in his first nine months in office, Mr. Tillerson turned down repeated and sometimes urgent requests from the department’s security staff to brief him, according to several former top officials in the Bureau of Diplomatic Security...

The departures mark a new stage in the broken and increasingly contentious relationship between Mr. Tillerson and much of his department’s work force.

Remember to notice who has written the article :roll eyes:! The NYT is well known for not reporting the issues correctly and for going a far distance to misconstrue actual facts. They love to dish out the innuendo and thinly veiled smear pieces. In my opinion they've completely lost any integrity they ever had.

Tillerson doesn't want to hear what the lifers in The Department of State have to say. I don't blame him.

If he has a "contentious relationship" with "much of his department's work force" it is probably because he has spine and purpose. That would really tick them off.
If they liked him I would be suspicious of him.

Leaving in "droves"? Good.
Read the article:
Quote:
Mr. Tillerson, a former chief executive of Exxon Mobil, has made no secret of his belief that the State Department is a bloated bureaucracy and that he regards much of the day-to-day diplomacy that lower-level officials conduct as unproductive. Even before Mr. Tillerson was confirmed, his staff fired six of the State Department’s top career diplomats, including Patrick Kennedy, who had been appointed to his position by President George W. Bush. Kristie Kenney, the department’s counselor and one of just five career ambassadors, was summarily fired a few weeks later.

Because most of the republicans in the Benghazi hearings were clueless. Americans died for 1 reason only, our government got involved in another nations civil warand ran guns to one side. the other side retaliated. The security was after the fact, don't nation build and Americans won't die.

Do you really think we are going to stop meddling in the affairs of other countries? I do not see it but maybe one day we will.

Duh.

If I see a man drowning and refuse to go for help, I would not be found guilty of wrongdoing either.
