I agree with the basis of Denzel Washington's point. It does start at home. I do feel that there are many things going on to put more Black males behind bars. I also agree that keeping a kid out of prison starts at home. Fighting to the system starts at home. It starts with a father and mother raising the children together, making sure those children stay out of trouble, they do what it right, they are raised up to be hard working, strong persons. Without strong families, we have problems. "It takes a village" means if your neighbor found out you did something stupid, your neighbor would tell your parents.
That mentioned, I don't want Washington to end up the "go to" Black guy for some RWNJ types. What he is saying isn't suppose to be about being respectable in the eyes of RWNJs. It isn't about trying to please anyone. It is about common sense. It is about right and wrong. I don't want someone to pull him out just to stick it to others.
You're kidding right? One would have to have lived under a rock for the entirety of their life to not know that broken homes and absent fathers are a MAJOR contributor to crime in America. This is well studied. Hard to believe you even went there.

And we know this because black men and black women grow up in the same exact households with the same parents, value, economic status, etc...but black women don't go to prison at the same rate as black men. So I guess kids that come from single parent homes in non black famlies are living large? So I guess the fact that men in all groups commit crime at a much higher rate than women doesn't matter? It's not about the color of ones skin, it's about being raised correctly and that is a very hard thing to do when you come from a 1 parent family.
At some point you'll open your eyes and look at things honestly. The sooner the better.

at least 80% of whites are murdered by other whites, but black murder rates constantly fly out of your mouths. Get your murder rates down to zero, show us black folks how its done. You haven't been through any type of oppression in the U.S. You aren't being punished for the crimes you commit at the same rate as black men. White fathers aren't being yanked out of their homes at the same rate as black men. White people aren't being prosecuted for all this opioid addiction like blacks were during the crack era. The two are not mutually exclusive. Mindboggling that you are arguing this point.
To me it's mind boggling that you think that out of wedlock birthrate means someone is is more likely to be a criminal when the facts are that out of wedlock births increased in the black population, yet crime decreased. This directly contradicts what you believe.
But I understand you are invested in a certain mantra espoused to you by media. As I noted, you should look at hard numbers and not just repeat things media feeds you. If out of wedlock births/single parenting caused an increase in crime, we'd be a much more criminally prone society today and that is not the case for blacks in America or any other demographic in this country. White out of wedlock births have increased 3 times over since the 1960s yet crime has not increased amongst whites either.

FYI - less than .5% of black men are murders. So 99.5% of black men do not need to "fix" murder.
What do you think Denzel needs to do to "fix it" as you mentioned in regards to murder and why don't white men need to "fix" the less than .5% of white men that murder every year too....?
