1. an insinuation or allegation about someone that is likely to insult them or damage their reputation:
in the context that trump is using it it's absolutely meant to be a slur.
It's not a slur against Amerindians though. How does it insult Amerindians? Of course, it's an insult to Warren and her bogus claim to that heritage. But that's not quite what most people mean when they think of a "slur."
Trump just couldn't resist taking the spotlight off from Native American Veterans who were there to be honored for their heroism during World War II with his drama queen routine making himself the story the media is forced to cover. And whose bright idea was it to do the ceremony in front of the Andrew Jackson portrait who pushed congressional pass the Indian Removal Act that caused the atrocity known as the Trail of Tears? This administration is tone deaf to racism among so many other things.
It's always about Trump, anything else pales by comparison. Large coincidence that this happened on day Richard Cordray left and the debate will be on regarding the CFPB, he would rather have people debating Warrens lineage than real issues.
According to referenced article, Warren admitted she told her previous employer, the university where she was employed prior to being hired by Harvard, she was a Native American.
Believing family lore and claiming minority status are very different.
Warren made her bed, now she can LIE in it. She deserves the "racist" (Oh my God!) "slur". Good for Trump to honor these brave men, and again remind us of a Senator using THEIR heritage for PERSONAL GAIN.

Next time you meet an Indian woman call her Pocahontas and ask her if she feels it is a slur. He is at a ceremony for Indian War Veterans and he has a need to insult Indians, he is an embarrassment.
Pink Ms. Warren usurping Native American heritage and claiming minority status for her professional gain with NO such heritage was the racial slur.
What Trump said was crass....he always is.....not a racial slur. What he said was inappropriate for the occasion.
I did research on Elizabeth Warren via Ancestry.com
She is easy to track. It would be almost IMPOSSIBLE for her to NOT be Native American. Her entire family is from Oklahoma and it's a large family. That is where they stole the native americans, and their land, and forced them to be. On bare land where many died as there is no way to grow food in that type of soil.
Again, it would be almost IMPOSSIBLE for Elizabeth Warren to NOT be Native American. Sure I didn't go as far as looking up her ancestry on the native american rolls but the majority of people in OKLAHOMA in 1906 when it became a State were native americans. They stole parts of Arkansas and another state, sorry too lazy to look up that one bordering it, to make OKLAHOMA which became a state in 1906
It took me maybe 10 minutes to research her history on Ancestry.com. So she didn't "claim" Native American Heritiage, she is MUCH MORE likely to be Native American than any other race.

Relevance...? Elizabeth Warren isn't an Indian.
