I doubt an investigation of this magnitude only took 36 hours to complete unless Lauer immediately caved.
Laurer has been at NBC for 41 years and is no doubt a 100 millionaire plus as a well paid, will say anything his bosses want, talking head. He's probably not that worried about it unless there are criminal charges to come.

41 years! He is only 59. Somehow I don't remember him being on the Today show in 1976.
He was overpaid and overrated...I remember reading a story about NBC flying him in every morning via Helicopter from the Hamptons...like what's so great about him? He will be fine he's a typical hypocrite talking about others while doing it himself
