Judging from all the comments the left is very unhappy about the tax bill. That must mean the country is on the right path and on the mend now. As I have said before I'm not a fan of this tax bill but I would have voted for it just to get rid of the individual mandate. Getting that monster of the backs of those who were paying the fine and working people was never good for consumer confidence.
This is not just "the left", its economists and anyone that understands the bill. So how is the country on the right way to mend, what exactly is the problem we solved.
Bottom line is before a bill can go to the White House to be signed, the EXACT SAME VERSION must pass the House and the Senate. They are not there now.
With the increase in the number of people paying taxes and those making more money in a very strong economy. The least it will do is be revenue neutral. But from past experience, it loaded the government coffers with cash, they turned around and spent by making government bigger. This time Trump is doing so much to shrink government spending.
Isn't it the conservative talking point that 47% don't pay any taxes? That only the rich pay taxes? Using that logic, we've cut taxes on the group that is paying taxes, and added more to the group that doesn't pay taxes. How is that going to help anything?
Not one senate democrat voted for it. I was hoping the Dems would come to the table and offer their tax cut ideas. Then I remembered they don't have any ideas and often don't show up for work. They must be on welfare.
phma could you please try to stay facts based. Just a little bit. You are fully aware dems and many Rs were locked out. Frankly if you pretend the dems just did not contribute, you are admitting wholesale ignorance of this topic. And i don't think you are.
so tell me Phma what's it to be. Fake made up BS, or facts based world?
Those earthquake swarms don't do enough damage to warrant any kind of tax deduction. A major earthquake would but if your house is demolished by a brush fire or earthquake, a tax deduction isn't what you're going to worry about. You better have good insurance or a lot of money in the bank to get back on your feet. You're not holding your breath for a tax deduction, LOL.
What? of course you want to write off the cost. say i get 400k worth of damage to my home. my insurance picks up 300k but i have to pay 100k... thus i save my top bracket on that 100k.

That's pretty close to true. But to be clear - the differences are hammered out in the Conference Committee, which consists of senators and representatives. Republicans hold the majority.
THEN, it is sent to each house for approval.
