Gee, if they've missed what surrounds them in NY, maybe they should go to another blue state--CA--specifically, Silicon Valley, where 27% of the residents are described as food insecure (one of the U.N.'s favorite adjectives).

There should be no shock... not only do we have a system that poverty and limited education is widespread. When truths are presented, one may find that "it is wiped away" without a second thought, other than the motive to "squash the truths" that need to be told.

There is a narrative (some) prefer to promote. It is up to individuals to move beyond such denials of truths, and continue to seek out the "real truths of matter". Therefore:

It is imperative that All American's invest themselves to learn what and why, America was established, and thus invest themselves to know the value basis of what is stated in "The Declaration of Independence", and then learn how and why we have "The Constitution" and what it is established to support. Then one must move on to learn and to understand "what is Democracy" and why we have a system that function by the premise and policies of Democratic Process, which is engaged to support an economic function by the basis of what is better known as capitalism.

When people know these things, they can understand how and why "Capitalism, should never be allowed to "USURP" Democracy.

One should truly invest themselves to "read and learn" what is within the core valuable documents:
"The Declaration of Independence", and then learn how and why we have "The Constitution" of which we have". It is to avert the process of Monarchy, Autocracy, Plutocracy, and Totalitarianism.. Thus so, these documents is to stand against all forms of Tyranny and stand against the containment of the masses into perpetual states of impoverishment, by the wealthy few.

Then one can learn about the Economics in a respectable system of Democracy, which is established in the founding of this nation. Not by the vile distortions of plutocratic agenda having been imposed upon and throughout the societies of America.
Quote:
MLK spoke of this in the Speech at Selma

He said among the many points in his speech
~~" Alabama has tried to nurture and defend evil, but evil is choking to death in the dusty roads and streets of this state"
"You see, it was a simple thing to keep the poor white masses working for near-starvation wages in the years that followed the Civil War. Why, if the poor white plantation or mill worker became dissatisfied with his low wages, the plantation or mill owner would merely threaten to fire him and hire former Negro slaves and pay him even less. Thus, the southern wage level was kept almost unbearably low."
Therefore, there is no need for "shock" that the United Nations is discovering what many "aware minded Americans" have long known.
We currently see and ongoing of the historical vile, with this current election process being engaged within Alabama, this very day.

Many don't want the "truths told" and they try by every and any means to voided it out, when its presented, other rise up like the nature of a "cult" and become cultist to the point of self blinding madness, and they too will stand against their own better good, for the means to support the "cult".
Poverty has always been the condition cast upon the "cultist members"... it always will be, because the nature of a cult, is to keep the membership contained, Culturally in mental oblivion, idealistically driven like cattle, and shaved like sheep. They are considered "incapable to voting and standing in their own best self interest and respect for the Nation and Systems of the Nation... They become a "cult" by the act of agenda to 'stand against organized Civil Society in and by a system of Governance.

Thus so... Poverty is a Tool... invoked upon the unlearned, the unaware and those who have chosen the self weakness of bias, bigotry, and promotion of dissension away from the established premise of the nations governance.

They pose a continuing threat unto the premise of Democracy, and stand in any and every manner of ways against the system of Governance that functions by such principles. Poverty, encircled by an Authoritarian premise to contain and maintain them in cycles of generational poverty, and they vote to promote the continuance, while they sit with a vain hope that an Authoritarian will take care of them. Yet, they are unaware, they are cast into the make up of being the "service class" as the station in life.
Poverty is many things, and among such things is "continual chaos, drama, spin and haughtiness driven by madness of contention. For such ones have been groomed, to think such ignorance as "haughtiness" to be mistaken as strength, when it is basically an exemplification of vile upon and against the civility and social fabric of society, and promotes a continuation of what is 'impoverished conditions".

Therefore... the U.N. speaks to the world... that the world may see the vile of mis information and fantasy, while it depicts and points out the expansive nature of Poverty, in a land where Plutocracy continues to encroach upon and against Democracy, and Capitalism seek by every means to dominate over Democracy, and proclaim, Democracy as being only for the wealthy.

This is what is an "Autocratic System" seeking to become made into a Autocracy, by those who have aspiration of proclaiming themselves the Monarchical few, who impose their brand of Tyrannical dominance over the masses.

This likened to that of what function in Russia.. which should awaken the people to be aware of why Russian is so intertwined in what is taking place in America this very day.

The bulk of the Right Winger Republican collective, have not a clue of what has just been said. They will come with attack, and unaware their attack only cements them into the Poverty, they so desperatly whine about being consumed within.

They will step back and yell "We've been forgotten"... when the truth is.. what they suffer is a continuing damage they bring and do unto themselves.

The UN got it right to call out the truth of the excessive poverty and the expanding ghettos that is being made into what is America.

The Republican are led by every manner and means of that which is engaged by "Cult Organizations"... yet, they can't see it... and their blindness of tripping on their skin, makes them even more deeply consumed into their own destitution.

LMAO. Your post is nothing more than a silly rant. You made a bunch of false accusations and never backed it up with any policies to prove your point. Stop with the histrionics.

Gosh the bad education isn't because we formed the big government Dept of Education and of course its just a coincidence our standing in education vs the rest of the world has gone downhill since.
It's just a coincidence that big government caused our economic boom and bust because it bypassed the free market in housing.
yea lets just ignore all that and make a long winded post that ignores the failures of a big central authority and its horrible policies.

This statistic has nothing to do with how an a poor american lives in comparison with a poor person in another country.

This poverty in Alabama didn't happen on 1/20/2017 regardless of what you think of Trump.
Poor people are poor for a number of reasons but who is sitting in the Oval Office isn't one of them.

There is nothing "Free'... the word free stands after "Responsibility".... A Free Market is one which "Respects and Abides by Regulatory Governance" in and through a Responsible manner and Responsible process .. otherwise it is "Chaos" and that leads to a system of Plutocratic Greed and by such, become a system driven by "Avarice".... (one should have seen the results of that in the last Republican led Administration in 2007 with the Economic Meltdown, fueled by "Avarice" in every category and of every type.)

We are a big nation, and by and for the nature of a big nation, it needs an ever improving system of Regulatory Governance, that is why the choice for the nation was based and set in the premise of Democracy to have Democratic Process and a System of Regulatory Governance.

It's not too hard to understand. An exchange of goods without limits on the exchange by authority. But go ahead and try to make it like it's something difficult to grasp. Wouldn't want you to make an out of character post.

And quit equating greed with an immoral economy. It's greedy to make and spend your own money but its not greed for others to take it, right?

The bad economy happened for one reason only. Again we bypassed the free market in housing by lowering standards. And as anyone with even a minute understanding of economics knows, when you lower standards quality and efficiency suffer.

Exactly.
Plus they're comparing apples to oranges. How can one compare a "developed" country with a Super Power that is the policeman of the world and the reigning empire?
