This isn't anything new. I read years ago how when Nehru visited the US he said that Mississippi was poorer than Punjab (which is saying a lot considering how India was in the 1950s)

That said an NYU professor who works for the UN will convince nobody in Alabama no more than an "Independent Baptist" preacher will convince anyone in NY

What do you think happens when you give all the wealth, corporate welfare, tax breaks and benefits to the top 1%? You end up with a third world Banana Republic complete with a deranged orange dictator, not unlike every other country in Latin America. It's not rocket science.

I am not in the top 1% yet get benefits and tax deductions. I also own stocks.

I condemn the way we treat the poor as much as anyone but here is the problem with this article. They have visited two states and have already decided that Alabama has the worst poverty in the developed world.

You won't anymore after the latest GOP tax plan for the 1% goes into effect, so enjoy it while you can.

This is not something that just started with Trump. We did the very same thing under Obama. In part that is why Hillary lost. A big middle finger by those left behind in Philly and Detroit.

Oh look, another poster who thinks the last 100 years of poverty are all Trump's fault.
