Even know Moore lost it was only by 21,000 it was luck that Jones won it was the toss of a coin.
Do you think that the fact that Republicans in the end supported Moore shows that you cannot trust a group in the house to make the right moral decision due to solidarity.
You would think in our democracy we could trust 52 or 51 Republicans to make the right moral decision.
The fact that the president, rnc, and Senate backed moore in the end shows our government even as a collected mind cannot do the moral thing and that is not good.
Even know he lost our two party system lost in the long run.
I'm not sure about all of that, but the bottom line is, Jones did not win by "luck". The people of Alabama voiced their opinion that, for whatever reasons, Jones was a better choice. Yes, the allegations sure did hurt Moore, as they should, and even the orange knight in shining armor wasn't able to swoop in at the last minute and slay the dragon.
Two factors changed the complexion of the election, in my opinion. 1) Moore had issues that damaged his reputation, and 2) There is a growing discontent with the Trump administration. The people voted against Trump as much as they voted against Moore. We have seen it in Virginia and New Jersey, and I bet Texas will be a surprise for the GOP as well , when that election happens.
Being from Alabama which obviously you are not, I can see why Moore received so many votes. The basis reason is the common person in the state, black, brown, or white, has been completely disenfranchised by the powers to be. We have seen factory after factory close in our state to move off-shore, in one swoop our community lost 6,000 jobs with the passage of CAFTA. Those jobs moved to Nicaragua as the quotas disappeared along with the 13.8% duty. CAFTA and NAFTA closed hundreds of plants in Alabama. These fairly well paying jobs are being replaced by Walmart, fast food, and numerous feeder parts manufactures with starting wages at $9.50 an hour. They are seeing illegal immigrants come in and take over the trade jobs, drive without insurance, take over our already underfunded and over crowded schools. Health insurance is distant dream as thanks to Obama Care it is completely unaffordable with a large enough deductible to choke a horse. Get in a grocery line and see families that can't speak a word of English with their Anchor Babies buying food with their SNAP card they could only dream of.
People are upset and if Mickey Mouse ran on a anti-establishment platform, he would have won.
Roy Moore was given the Todd Akin and Chris McDaniel treatment. (Todd Akin's "legitimate rape" comment hurt him and (and GOP ditched him) and the Chris McDaniel treatment (GOP Establishment conspired with Dems in Mississippi to defeat the McDaneil and get liberal Cochran in there.))

If the roles were reversed and Al Franken was about to face a Republican in Minnesota for a critical Senate seat, I guarantee you the Minnesota Dems would have voted Al Franken regardless of who ran for the R's & never have felt an ounce of regret about it.

What's the most you'd be willing to bet on that & do you have a paypal account?
The fact is on the issues Moore is more morally correct than the winner from a social conservative perspective. People vote on issues and tend to ignore character issues.
While I am moderately pro choice and favor gay marriage I can completely understand why those who look at abortion as murder would find a vote for Moore as the lesser of two evils.
The fact we had a choice between Hillary and Donald last November is proof democracy is flawed.
Moore was elected as a judge twice, not a flaw but certainly a poor decision by voters.
