WASHINGTON — In the weeks after he became the Republican nominee on July 19, 2016, Donald Trump was warned that foreign adversaries, including Russia, would probably try to spy on and infiltrate his campaign, according to multiple government officials familiar with the matter.
The warning came in the form of a high-level counterintelligence briefing by senior FBI officials, the officials said. A similar briefing was given to Hillary Clinton, they added. They said the briefings, which are commonly provided to presidential nominees, were designed to educate the candidates and their top aides about potential threats from foreign spies.
The candidates were urged to alert the FBI about any suspicious overtures to their campaigns, the officials said.
The situation was complicated by the fact that the FBI had already become aware of contacts between members of the Trump campaign and Russia, and was beginning to investigate further. Former CIA Director John Brennan has said he told the FBI about a pattern of contacts the CIA observed between members of the Trump team and Russians, and former FBI Director James Comey said the bureau then began investigating in July 2016.

Of course we all know that no one from the Trump circle did contact the FBI about Russians contacting them, as they had been instructed to do!

This is bad news for Trump and his people. They have spent months claiming that they were neophytes , that they simply did not know or understand what was going on.

The defence is dead. Trump and everyone in his campaign and transition team can no longer claim they were unaware PUTIN was recruiting offering quid pro quo.... etc.

Mueller is doing a stand up job.

direct contact is now 'spying' and 'infiltration'?

Why did Obama not do anything?

Quote:
The Obama administration received multiple warnings from national security officials between 2014 and 2016 that the Kremlin was ramping up its intelligence operations and building disinformation networks it could use to disrupt the U.S. political system, according to more than half a dozen current and former officials.

It looks like the Trump campaign took the warnings to heart. They protected their servers from Russian hacking attempts and didn't get into any agreements with the Russians. Or try to dig up any dirt on Hillary, like the DNC did with the Steele dossier.

Now this is nothing but nonsense.

Trump campaign didn't take any warnings to heart. They were meeting Russians left and right and nary a word to the FBI. The list grows daily. Poor Kushner keeps revising his security paperwork.

Interactive Timeline: Everything We Know About Russia and President Trump

Just because Wikileaks hasn't released the emails, there is no reason to believe that the Russians didn't hack RNC servers and are using that info in other ways.

https://www.wired.com/2017/01/russia...director-says/

As to making agreements with the Russians, it isn't for lack of trying on the part of Don Jr., Kushner, etc.

Not only did team Trump do their best to dig up dirt on Clinton, they spread constant lies. Look at how Trump carried on about how the DNC emails were filled with criminal acts. When in fact, they were normal emails of people coordinating matters.

Rs are still carrying on about how DNC folks didn't want Sanders, an Independent, to win the Democratic primary. So?

They tried and failed. No evidence of collusion and none to be found. On the flip side, however, Crooked Hillary's campaign actually colluded with the Russians to create that phony dossier.
