Democrats and the media you put up a tough, nasty, dishonest fight against the tax bill. Even throwing temper tantrums on twitter and protests in the capital along with attempting to intimidate our senators. But as of now it's looking like the GOP stood together for once and on the verge of delivering a win.

Maybe we can find some agreements on infrastructure early next year.

There is more to life (and government) than your tax bill. The cuts required by this bill will be coming before the dust settles. That is where the major negative impact will hit average Americans. And especially our children and grandchildren. All so we can save a few bucks every month.

Not sure if it's user error or not, but the calculator seems to be excluding a standard/itemized deduction for us in the "Current Tax System" scenario which is overstating our savings by ~$4k. We would still save a lot of money, but I definitely agree that this is not the right time for a tax cut.

are you an American citizen, cruithne?

according to the brookings institute, 80.4 percent of americans will get a tax cut. Average cut is $2,140. Only 4.8 percent will get a tax increase.

And where is the money going to come from for all this new infrastructure?

I am a little worse off from the original House plan, but still better off overall by a lot.

Same place it came from for Obama's 2009 Stimulus - thin air.

Worked then to the tune of damn near a $trillion, and in the name of infrastructure, so why wouldn't work the same 9 years later?

Repatriation tax rate of 16% on 2.5+ trillion dollars held overseas should cover a good chunk
