Let me guess, you disagree with what I said, but you can't refute it, nor do you want to at least consider what I'm saying. I never once said that only Blacks count. I was saying that if this is about southern heritage, Blacks would claim southern heritage too. However, that is not taking place. Ever thought about why?
Perhaps if you would define what YOU consider "southern heritage". Most people view it as a traditional fantasy of the antebellum era, which just happens to include slavery. Who best portrays this "southern tradition"?
You're deflecting again. We're not talking about federally-protected statues. We're talking about town-owned statues placed on town-owned land.
Please tell me which of the statues that have been taken down were/are federally-protected. Thank you.
Although I appreciate the back & forth discussion here, the statues in Memphis were no longer town-owned nor located on town-owned land when removed. The Memphis City Council unanimously agreed to sell Health Science Park & an easement at Fourth Bluff Park for $1,000 apiece to Memphis Greenspace, a local nonprofit.
There's recent history, so to speak, involved here. When the people of Memphis desired to simply change the names of some of the people's parks (Confederate Park, Jefferson Davis Park, & Forrest Park), the State of TN responded in 2013 by passing the Tennessee Heritage Protection Act
"... no memorial regarding a historic conflict, historic entity, historic event, historic figure, or historic organization that is, or is located on, public property, may be removed, renamed, relocated, altered, rededicated, or otherwise disturbed or altered."
The free spaces of Memphis in question here are now privately financed ~ the purchase of the parks ~ the removal of the statues ~ & Memphis Greenspace's future maintenance of the free spaces.
In a more general sense, it's somewhat analogous to how many of the statues commemorating the 'Lost Cause' historiographical revisions went up in the first place, as The United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) were responsible.

I cannot rep you anymore but if I could I would. Not sure I could say this better than you already have. These PC social justice warriors and socialist keep up thier assault on us we may very well get a “do over” on the war. This time we won’t call it the War of Northern Agression but The War of Overwhelming Southern Victory. We would whoop em good this time, they are weak and the only think they know how to do is whine, complain, protest and riot. Should Dixie ever stand up again they will be runnin for momma and the safe spaces. I have no tolerance what so ever for these people, thier attemp to erase history and bad mouth the South. Let’s not forget they are the same people pushing immoral lifestyles, atheism, socialism, gun confiscations, controls on free speech and other freedom hating beliefs and behaviors. These leftists are nothing short of enemies of America as a whole not just the south.
Not sure what you think is an 'immoral lifestyle', and besides, you DO believe in the First Amendment, right? So, what is wrong with atheism? The First Amendment allows you to be a Baptist, Jew, Buddhist or Atheist.
