Regardless of any character flaws that was in these men, fighting to keep black folks in bondage is the worst cause anyone can fight for. And on top of that, many of the defeated Confederates became the foundation of the KKK... Apples and oranges...
This is something several people have purposely ignored. Washington and Jefferson were flawed individuals, but their cause was not fighting to keep Black people enslaved. They were not fighting for the right to keep slavery. The Confederates were fighting explicitly to keep slavery. And those losers who became the KKK, they looked at themselves as ghosts of the Confederacy. They were seeking to inflict terror on those who sought equality for all. The Confederates were all about keeping the racial hierarchy in place, and using terror to do so. And I think there are people today who wish that way of doing things was still in place.
How are the statues hurting anyone? If you don't like them, don't look, but don't ban everything just because some overly sensitive jerk may be "offended". Get a freakin LIFE! I know its hard, because progressives like to DICTATE to others, but seriously, maybe read a book or something.

Glorifying traitors to the United States needs to stop take the statues down. They were put up explicitly to intimidate black people. Sounds like you need to do some more studying of history to see what those statues were actually about.

If taking a statue down is an act of "DICTATING", so is putting one up. Why should the Confederate Losers get to decide that their participation trophies need to be on public display?

It’s like you didn’t even bother to read the sound reasoning by other posters regarding these statues.
The confederate side lost. No need to honor losers like them with statues, especially given what they stood for.
Seems many who defend statues honoring traitors who tried to tear our nation apart also defend Trump and his attempts to tear our nation apart.
Another good reason yet to get rid of the damn statues.
Ah, so the truth comes out. This is all a big F-off to Trump and his voters.

It was not a problem for 152 years. It all started in 2015, with your precious Jug-Ears Chicago Jesus leading the charge. But seeing as to how I'm the Civil War buff here who doesn't bend over to SJW posturing and the far leftists who enable them, no thank you, more likely I know far more than you. Since many of these statues were built from 1890-1920 which is also consequently when many Civil War veterans were starting to die off.

Because it was their town squares and cities in the South?

Get. Over. It.
Well given these statues were there long before you were, it seems this is an exercise in yours, and your like's narcissism.

Hmm... 1890 + 152 = 2042, so I'm not sure which point you're making here.

And, thanks to carefully engineered laws, a certain minority was carefully kept from having a say as to what was erected. Well, they have a say now, a fact that would horrify the Southern gentlemen whose statues occupy a place of honor. And it turns out they don't much care for Ole Massa.
Of course, the entire "it was their town squares and cities" ring damn hollow when it was the City of Memphis who wanted to remove the statues and the state of Tennessee who tried to decide for the Memphis citizenry.
I mean, you do get that this was the story, right? Tennessee's state government trying to dictate to city governments what could be and couldn't be in their town squares - you got that bit, right?

Wow, really?
This isnt about traitors, this is about history but keep throwing stupid dramatic hyperbole in there to suit your silly narrative
