To be fair, the trend has been tied to the opioid crisis. I absolutely don't think we are doing enough to make sure everyone in this country gets health care, particularly those with mental illnesses or addictions, but I don't think that can be laid at the feet of any single person, or this administration. If it continues and nothing is done to address it, that may be another story.
I'm not defending Trump or the Republicans, but drug overdoses have been a growing problem for a while now.
Too many refined carbohydrates in the diet leads to metabolic syndrome and prediabetes. Excess fructose and alcohol consumption combined with being overweight and high BMI.
It's not necessarily the starch component causing the problem it's the fructose component (sugar, honey, soda, anything sweet)
Also eating fast, eating too much at a serving, and eating too many processed frozen food, and eating a low fat, high carb diet. Compare to french diet:
Given that the OP never mentioned Trump...why did you bring him up and ask the OP what it had to do with him?
Given that we just passed another tax break for the wealthy that Trump has stated is also a repeal of obamacare (even he recognizes that removing the penalty for not having insurance will doom it) a person could argue that Trump is making things worse.

In part, health care has been what got many addicted. Trump is not making any of this better and likely will make it worse long term but trying to make it about him is sad.
