The one thing that horrifies leftist fanatics the most, is to bring the truth about their activities to the people they are trying to influence and rule. This hydrogen-balloon trick is comical in some ways, but the groups doing it are supplementing it with smuggling in flash drives with movies, news broadcasts, and articles. The North Korean people are gobbling them up.

Leftist fanatics in this country are likewise horrified over things as open and straightforward as Donald Trump's speeches and tweets, telling the American people things the leftists don't want us to hear. Plus news broadcasts about everything from rising Obamacare premiums to high deductibles to Democrat attempts to interfere with Federal drug-dealer prosecutions for the sake of appeasing countries like Iran to abortion providers dealing in baby parts for cash. The American leftist fanatics can only reply with insults, screams, distractions, and more lies.

North Korea flooded with illicit information carried by hydrogen balloons as tensions escalate

Nicola Smith,The Telegraph 2 hours 43 minutes ago

North Korean defectors are ramping up a campaign to covertly flood their former homeland with flashdrives and balloons full of news bulletins and documentaries to counter state propaganda as tensions escalate with the US over Pyongyang’s nuclear and missiles programmes.

Assisted by the US-based, and privately funded, Human Right Foundation (HSF) their ultimate aim is to bring down the pariah regime from within, by engaging directly with North Koreans, providing illicit information that will influence mindsets and fuel dissatisfaction.

(snip)

Up to 10,000 flashdrives were successfully smuggled into North Korea as Pyongyang’s relations sharply deteriorated over the past year, said Alex Gladstein, HSF’s chief strategy officer. But with traditional military and diplomatic strategies apparently failing to temper the threat of nuclear conflict, activists are now working furiously to reach a target of 100,000 by mid-2018.

(snip)

Waging this information war was “the only way to inspire change,” argued Mr Gladstein. “So it’s really like a third way, and this is to liberate minds. We’re creating little windows to the outside world so that the North Korean people can make decisions for themselves about what they want to do with their lives,” he said.

The regime’s visceral reaction towards them, calling them “scum” and “enemy zero” showed how much it feared outside news, he argued. The group’s “Flashdrives for Freedom” project has already smuggled in 2 million hours worth of footage, and 48m hours of reading material, reaching an estimated 1.1 million North Koreans over the past few years.

Maybe Kim Jong-Un was merely trying to put up countering hydrogen balloons to combat the effects of these western balloons full of information, and somebody mis-translated him and the U.S. started thinking he was developing hydrogen [i]bombs[/s] instead.....??

What's been going on in North Korea is horrible. I'd much prefer living in a very poor but freer country like the Congo. If people try to flee risk execute or forced labor if caught and returned. If they successfully escape their family is punished and put on a list of high risk people. During their famine that killed 1 million people the official ration for each adult was 2 meals with a combined 9 ounces of food.

What they don't mention is that the NK regime will jail entire families because of these antics. And jail in NK means slave labor until death.

It's bad news for anyone caught with one of these drive, or simply accused of having one.

That is pretty cool and a genius idea. Flood the North Korean people with information via balloons.

Dropping millions of U.S. Dollars via balloons would be a nice addition. We've wasted money on sillier things....

And "millions of U.S. dollars" wouldn't even be missed. Hillary got that much for on 25-minute speech to the Russians.

I'm all for getting information to the oppressed in NK.

But it begs the question.......

Are they eating those flash drives? I mean, what are they watching all those movies on?

I imagine getting caught with one of those flash drives would mean summary execution.

Or we could bring our 35000 troops in South Korea home and protect our borders like the Constitution says and save a ton of money.
But who would lead the aggressive military manuvers that mimic an invasion?
