Ok, I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say this:
I know you are more intelligent than to believe your comments above. I think most people here see you as more intelligent than that.
Let's be honest here: Trump created and managed the whole Trump Organization into what it is today. He could have long ago instilled "America First" into it...but didn't. He could call on his family to do it now; he still owns a major share and is getting all the financial benefits. But again, he doesn't.
And if he doesn't believe enough in "America First" for the business with HIS NAME on it, then why should we take seriously anything else he has to say on the topic?
Honestly-I would like to see that as well. However, previously, our tax code had made it very difficult for US companies to make and sell "commodity" items like clothing at a competitive price. Now that the US income tax code is less confiscatory for American businesses-it would seem like a very good time to bring his production on shore.
Thousands of factories have closed down over the years. I'm sure many companies wish they could make their products here but it's physically impossible. When Trump was looking for a place in the US to make his MAGA hats, he said it took longer than expected. You can still buy an assortment of Trump campaign merchandise on their website
"If you build it, they will come" applies to factories, too. As corporate money comes back thanks to this tax cut, they will need to put it somewhere, so I expect to see more manufacturing
Other countries regularly manipulate their currency, drive down wages to make themselves artificially-competitive, and otherwise subsidize their industry. It is impossible for America to remain competitive unless we do the same(IE "race to the bottom").
The only alternative, would be to end our free-trade agreements, and massively raise our tariff rates.
To put it in perspective. If you have two farmers, and one can hire illegal-immigrants, and the other can't. Then the one who can will outcompete the other. As long any farmer can hire illegal-immigrants, they all have to.
To fix this problem, the laws either need to be changed, or they need to be enforced. Complaining about businesses hiring illegals, or outsourcing jobs, is stupid.
If it was profitable to make things in America, then everything would be made in America.
Of COURSE they have control over where they are made. Don't even try to feed us that bull**** LIE.
Let me explain to you how it works:
Donald has the cash, and he can determine how to invest it. That means he can CHOOSE to license it to people who will manufactured in the USA, or else he can directly do deals with USA factories.
Don't play dumb and pretend that poor Donald has no choice about how he deploys his money and structures his businesses. He knows very well that it's going to be made overseas, and he WANTS it that way.
Actually, no. I'm in the retail industry, and I have some knowledge of how this process works. First of all, the manufacturers approach the agents of various celebrities to see if they can license their name and attach it to a line of products. These things are almost never (if ever) initiated by the celebrities themselves. The manufacturers present prototypes of their lines to the celebrities, which the celebrity can decline if they do not want their name attached to a particular product or they think it will hurt their image. They negotiate a price and that is about it. The celebrity has no say in how or where they are manufactured.
PVH corporation makes the Donald Trump dress shirts and ties. All of their products are made overseas, mostly in China. They also make Calvin Klein, DKNY, Tommy Hilfiger, G. Beene, and several other brands of dress shirts and neckwear. The same factory that makes Calvin Klein dress shirts also makes the Donald Trump dress shirts. There is no way that they will build a factory in the US just to make Donald Trump shirts or ties. Granted, Donald Trump could have turned down the deal, but if someone was offering you millions of dollars to stamp your name on a line of men's dress shirts and ties, would you say no? Neither Donald Trump, nor any of the the other celebrities that have their names on clothing or perfumes, own any clothing factories. It is purely a licensing agreement. That's it.

In other words, Donald doesn't have Russian ties. All of his come from China. Got it.

I'm well aware of how the system works. Chinese labor is much cheaper than American labor which the reason these products are produced in China. The problem is Trump is not practicing what he preaches. He has a due as I say not what do type approach. It's hard to take anyone serious when they are like this.
Love how the righties are so quick to defend this Liar in Chief. Anyone count the lies he’s told so far? I have no patients with him or his famdamly and the way they connived their way into the White House. Who elected Ivanka anyway?

Sorry, but I still call BS...
Trump licenses his brand knowingly to these guys, fully aware that they will manufacture it overseas, right? Don't tell me he doesn't know; he expects it because it maximizes his rate of return, right? He's a profit-maximizing businessman and all that.
So again, if Trump was serious about "America First," he would be willing to put his money where his mouth is and sacrifice some of his rate of return in order to seek out American manufacturers for his licensing deals. He's already a billionaire, right? He keeps telling us what a great deal maker he is...why can't he make THAT deal happen? You're telling me there is no American manufacturers left at all who could make the stuff, albeit for a higher cost?
He doesn't do that because he doesn't believe in what he says; he knows he would earn less, and he of course puts his profits ahead of his stated principles.

Alright, let's make a deal:
1. Let's come back here in a year and see if the tax overhaul brought Donald and Ivanka's stuff back to be made in the USA...
2. Let's come back in a year and see what legislation has been passed by the Republican congress to undo the comparative economic effects of a globalized marketplace for products and services.
Will be curious to see... If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. Let's see.
