Here's a follow-up to the San Antonio pit bull attack. The couple that owned the pit bull, also had an aggressive Rhodesian Ridgeback that also was euthanized. The husband was sentenced to four years in prison, and his wife got ten years probation. And on the day that the couple was sentenced, authorities found two pit bulls at their home. That upset the judge and she denied the husband to post a bond while he appeals his sentence. And in addition, the judge ruled that neither of them can ever own a dog again anywhere.
The jury that heard the case sentenced McCloud to four years in prison, and handed Miles-McCloud 10 years of probation after their pit bull named Bully ripped off the left arm of Doris Mixon Smith, 73, and tore off part of her face as she was gardening March 6, 2017, at her home in the 8900 block of Mansfield on the far West Side.
State District Judge Joey Contreras, who presided over the case in the 187th state District Court, angrily admonished the pair after their conviction because the day they were sentenced, investigators from the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office found the couple had two more pit bulls in their backyard at their current home, a violation of a court order and bond conditions. That led the judge to remand them both into custody and increase their original $15,000 bond to $250,000.
A WOMAN lost her arm after a vicious attack from her "gentle" pit bull of nine years.
Yasmin Adam, 45, was left lying in a pool of blood after her beloved pup, Sir Hinkles, mauled her in a savage assault.
It took place after she tried to break up a fight between Sir Hinkles and her two other dogs, but instead the pet bit her ear and tore off flesh from her arms.
Sir Hinkles then chewed on the bone in her arm for nine minutes before cops arrived and shot him dead.
Are you daft? That's not a pit bull! That's a poodle! Didn't you know that 99.999999% of the time when the media reports that a "pit bull" attacked or killed someone, it's misidentifying the breed and the dog in question is almost never a pit bill? Look at that dog in the news article. That's clearly not a pit bull. It's the fake news media up to its old tricks again!
A lot of wasted electrons here.....apologists are everywhere even on these forums. Identified by the tag line "it's the owner not the dog". They have machinery in place to defend the killers because the owners NEED the dogs for their own physcological sickness.
I have no time for Pit Bulls, nor the American Staffordshire Terrier. Why take the chance? There are many breeds that are more consistently EVEN TEMPERED. You can have a Pit Bull for years, and then be mauled by them, or worse. There are many accounts of this happening. However, I do know some that like them, and have success with them. Not a big Rottie fan either.
No, I don't want them "banned". If you want one get one.

I have no problem with banning pit bulls. No owner can guarantee that their dog will never get free and run amuck in the surrounding neighborhoods. I've read many stories of pit bulls that got loose (they are much worse in a pack) and forced their way into a neighbor's property to kill dogs and livestock. It's just not fair to other people.
And I've read animal shelter dog bios where they have evaluated the pit bull and warn that while the dog was tested fine with people, the animal was dog aggressive. And I have met pit bulls and AmStaff terriers who were extremely small dog aggressive.
And speaking of tested, I still think of the story (posted earlier in this thread) of the woman who adopted a pit bull that had be vetted by the rescue for THREE MONTHS and the day she took in the dog, it killed HER ELDERLY MOTHER lying on her bedroom floor crying for help.
