It was the 91st weapon intercepted by TSA officers at Orlando’s airport this year, Koshetz said, adding that it marks a “disturbing and dangerous pattern” across Florida and the rest of the nation.
The agency has seen a rise in the number of guns brought to checkpoints across the state over the past five years, according to a recent TSA report. So far this year, 498 weapons have been found at five of the state’s largest airports: Tampa International, Orlando International, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International, Miami International and Jacksonville International. Tampa International tops the list with 96 guns, followed by Orlando at 91. Agents intercepted 72 guns at Fort Lauderdale’s airport, 52 at Miami’s airport and 39 at Jacksonville’s airport.
In 2016, 3,391 firearms were discovered in carry-on luggage at 238 of the nation’s airports in 2016, an increase of 28 percent over 2015, the report shows.

There is a procedure to which you must follow to fly with a weapon...
If you simply toss a pistol/rifle/shotgun in a bag and think all is well, you're in for a surprise...
So disturbing that someone didn't follow TSA guidelines... More inflammatory reporting to grab the lemmings by the feels to make it seem like illicit arms dealers are trying to move weight via commercial airplanes... LOL

Fair point. I take back my initial reaction (even though it was not about illicit arms dealers). I do still think it's asinine to bring a concealed or side arm to the airport.
If they have a license, just let them on the dang plane.
Just as soon as they put it into checked luggage or give the firearm to the pilot until they land. FYI, I am licensed and know that there are still rules I must follow.

Example. Say I were on a competitive shooting team that travels across the USA and I need to go to say Wyoming... can't drive I'll miss the event.
What I can do... I can take my lowers and place them in a lockable case. Have them checked.
What I can do... I can load magazines and place them in a lockable case. Have them checked.
What I can do is put my uppers in a bag if they'll fit in a bag for carry on, I can take my complete uppers aboard the air plane.
As long as the ammo, magazines, lowers/receivers are in a locked hard case container, and checked, I'm golden.
“disturbing and dangerous pattern”
Disturbing and dangerous? That someone is too lazy to look up protocol? Or just plain stupid? LOL
Is it rampant? Ever increasing in frequency like she claims? Don't know. Don't fly. Not willing to find out...
