It's about the reason why one receives that money. Reasons matter. Except of course to the progressive left and to the progressive right.

Strangers allow me to win a lotto ticket every now and then.

I'd love to know how on earth you could extrapolate "you'd be more than happy to murder me for it" from his simple "I'd accept it" response. That's some really creative interpretation going on there.

If so, it is morally acceptable because it is legal in our country.
Morally acceptable and legal are NOT the same thing.

It's legal to kill someone in self defense, plenty of people think it's immoral.
Abortion is legal, plenty of people think it's immoral.
Landlords raising rent to whatever the market will bear is legal, plenty of people think it's immoral.
Prostitution is legal in some places, many think it's immoral.

There is a nearly endless list of things that are legal that someone thinks is immoral.

I don't think there's anything immoral about accepting money that is freely given. Accepting money from Peter that was taken from Paul is a gray area.

Okay, Or, you found an old mattress with $50,000 sewed inside it, that you got from the Goodwill store? Is this one more a "finders keeper" situation or since you bought the mattress, you bought it lock-stock and barrel? Or... you try to find the owner and subtly hint at what is inside and see if they are aware, perhaps their grandma sewed it in there? Either way, your conscience should tug at you on this one..
The 50k tugs harder.

No different than buying a parcel of land to build a house and retire, then a week later oil is discovered in that area and you're sitting on an oil field? You lucked into it either way.

Agreed. Quite a few people thought Jim Crow was moral.
It's about forcing morals on others. Not that you're saying one way or the other.
