The fruits and vegetables are escaping the asylums AND THEY WANT POWER.
Two San Diego State University professors contributed a chapter to a new anthology arguing that farmers' markets are "insidious" "white spaces where the food consumption habits of white people are normalized."
The farmers markets in my area has a good representation of Hispanic growers and sellers.
The Campus Reform paper and from The Coast seem to be the same. What a bunch of wasted words.
As an early supporter of an 'urban farming initiative' in a large metro area, and long-time participant in the ag industry, I am truly surprised anyone can be so ignorant. Ignorant of the contributions and participation by people of all races. Admittedly, agriculture does an inadequate job of getting our story out.
The idea of the authors operating in some form of academic cocoon seems the only answer. And they had sources for a "review of literature!" There are apparently others just as stupid! I was glad to read comments on the Washington Times article. Others find their notions as silly as I do.

It does not surprise me. I saw a POV documentary on PBS regarding Soul Food. The black filmmaker was saying that it was quite unhealthy to indulge in it. A few black men stated such thoughts came from white people who wanted to take their culture away. For the record, I like both Farmers Markets and Soul Food.
What is really surprising is that procuring a position in academia now looks no harder than bank teller.
LOL article says geology profs. (Rocks) They are geography (people and place)
Letting POC buy fresh veggies, likely at lower cost, directly from a farmer.
Am I the only one thinking this is a win-win for the POC and the farmer?
