You are only pushing for more federal involvement in the public safety net when you strike hard against individual states' ability to raise revenue. Is more federal government what you want? Because that is what you are going to get. The push for a national health care system and much higher SSDI, SSI and SS benefits will only increase. Its a nightmare scenario for the GOP donors (and even though Joe Sixpack republican will benefit massively, he allies himself with the donor class).

I'm surprised how frequently people bring it up, "givers and takers" as if it was an undisputed fact.

The level of analysis needed to produce accurate results would be astoundingly complex. I believe in reality they're just doing a superficial accounting of where federal money is spent, with no sense of the bigger picture.

Has he even been in NYC lately? Seems like Florida has been doing all the legwork on this one.

Can't recall the last time I saw the family visit the city.

New York City is not New York State.

New York City has been a vampire on upstate and other states for decades.

Now they'll get a taste of the true cost of their Liberal policies.

I grew up in Upstate and I love NY state, but hate NYC and the state's government for what it did to Upstate.

That's why I left.

They repeat it so often they're deluded enough to actually believe it, especially in dense liberal areas like Seattle.

Liberals like him say a lot of things that simply aren't true. Now red states aren't subsidizing tax deductions in some blue states like NY and CA. Just because you have a state income tax doesn't mean you should pay less in federal taxes. If the people in those states don't like high taxes they should elect different people.

When this was being considered in the Senate, Gillebrand the Senator from New York was complaining about Bill Clnton's 20 year old affair with Lewinsky.

The Democrats knew what was coming and didn't saturate the airwaves with protests against this robbery. It's also possible that all of the networks were told to keep a lid on tax reform until it was passed and signed.

The Republicans are the party of big business hook line and sinker, and the Democrats are the Republican party lite. So that it appears that they are doing something they ***** and scream after it is done. Up to that point they are told to lay down and die.

"Because the bill was given to lobbyists to read and change before senators saw it, and because the bill was given to us on a few hours' notice and has not been read fully or considered fully by a single senator, I move we adjourn until Monday so we can first read and then clean up this awful piece of legislation," Schumer said.

Democrats are blasting Republicans, arguing they are trying to rush the legislation through the Senate without giving lawmakers a chance to read it.

the democrats had plenty of opportunity to engage the republicans on tax reform, in fact they were invited to engage and they didnt. they chose instead to whine about it happening and said they against ANY tax reform what so ever.
