Okay, take a deep breath, calm down, and count to 10. Doesn't that feel better? Okay, now that you are chillin, let me break it down for you. First of all, your thread is hilarious. The phenomenon you are ascribing to here is not something which only applies to men, even if you have a ridiculous word for it. I could just as easily start a complaint thread about how sick I am of all the "femsplaining" I have to listen to on a daily basis. And the reason for that is everyone does this sort of thing. Men have not cornered the market on this.
I agree with this^^^^.
Yes I have experienced what the youtube person said and I have actually dealt with it in similar ways at times BUT I wouldn't call in mansplaining. Both genders do this to both genders.
Man spreading has been around forever & it factually explains what MEN do....they sit down & spread their knees open, taking up space. You don't see women doing that. If you find that as hating on men, you need to get a thicker skin & stop being so delicate.
LOL, women take up lots of space in other ways. Their shopping bags, their gargantuan purses, etc. etc.
Of course men will deflect, say it's not a thing, say we're just crazy but any women that have dealt with lots of men especially in a working environment will know exactly what I mean. Hell, even on message boards such as this mansplaining and even EXTREME MANSPLAINING is a huge issue, and honestly I think it should be a bannable offense. I particularly hate it when men try to talk about women's health issues, or women's body parts as if they have a clue what they are talking about.
please explain what mansplaining is to me because I couldn't watch the video because one of those pictures in the background done by her children was crooked and it was bugging me
Well this thread started by our old friend Staphangel was designed to promote vitriol against men so you can't be too surprised if there is a bit of "equal and opposite reaction" going on here.
In that case, the vitriol should be directed at the person starting the thread, not at women in general. Focus, people.
Manspreading is a thing necessitated and explained by biology.
I would explain how and why men (well, some) have to do that and prefer to do that... but that might be considered mansplaining. Let's let this guy do it:
