Actually, real progressives don't like "Christian" rednecks or "Muslim" rednecks.
The key difference - and why you see more anger here against the "Christian" ones - is twofold:
- There are A LOT more "Christian" rednecks in America than "Muslim" rednecks, hence they are far more powerful and dangerous with their desire to get their backwards agenda made into the law of the land.
- Those same "Christian" rednecks spend a lot of time spouting off about how ALL Muslims are scum and worthy of banishment - at best - or nuking. So, yes, we progressives do a have a problem with concepts that violate the 1st Amendment as well as basic human decency.
Consider the big picture before making silly, strawmen arguments about progressive.
Very hypocritical post. You don't like Christians who stereotype all Muslims in a negative way but you don't see anything wrong with stereotyping all Christians in a negative way.
I don't consider myself Christian or Muslim but I don't see the need to open the floodgates and let hundreds of thousands of Muslim immigrants into this country. We have enough problems without adding to it.
Don't go down that path with the religious text quotes; two can play that game.
Let's take a nice look in the bible - the holy text of all Jews and Christians - at Deuteronomy, Chapter 13 - on worshiping other gods.
Not only are you to murder anyone who worships another god, but if ANYONE in a town worships another god, you kill EVERYONE in that town. Lovely!
Clearly, these people are all about loving thy neighbor and we need to bring more Christians into the US.
I am not Christian nor Muslim. But the point is not which religion has more references to killing or murder in their teachings that can be debated but which religion spawns today in 2017 more acts of murder or terrorism.
During this time period, there were 2021 Islamic attacks in 61 countries, in which 15530 people were killed and 14167 injured.
Some might counter that Christians have killed people associated with abortion clinics and they are terrorists. Ok, 11 people since 1993 have been killed by anti abortion terrorists. 11.
Amazing that women have to be kept separate from Muslim men in Germany. How is it that a religion with so many strict rules finds it acceptable to sexually assault random women?

It straight-out tells people who believe in the bible to murder anyone who worships another god. My favorite line is this one:

It says no such thing. You haven't even read the text that you are posting:

It is a passage regarding the apostate, not the infidel. It is not saying that you have to put to death those who believe differently in the first place, only those who stray from Judaism. That is not neccesarily a good thing, but it is in NO WAY equivalent to "kill the infidel beside you," "Strike the head and hands from the unbeliever," or "fight the infidel until the end of time."
Similarly, the other passages explicitly refer to Hebrew townships. They are talking about apostates within their own lands and communities.
Islam is the ONLY religion that demands neverending war against infidels.
And this thread is about rape. Show me the passage that says that Christians should rape non-Christians.

They believe that if a woman is not supervised by a male relative, she is asking to be raped....that's the truth which I know offends political correctness.
Those are just misinterpreted and bad translations from Hadith and the Quran. Islam and the Quran are about peace. We need to bring more of these people into the US.
