NJ and NY shouldn't be begging for money from other regions of the country to build their infrastructure, pay for it yourself, open your wallets and quit begging. You didn't support Trump, why should he support you?
You might need a lesson in Geography. It's the entire Eastern seaboard, going on up from Maine down to Florida. So try again.
Feds funded a stupid streetcar in Milwaukee that is an absolute waste of money and space. Glad to see trump might stop these kind of projects though I would argue this particular project maybe should have been funded.... Oh well :/
During SFY 2016-2017, the NYS tax department collected $71.2 billion from state-imposed taxes and fees as follows:
personal income tax—$47.6 billion
state sales tax plus excise and user taxes—$15.2 billion
business taxes—$6.0 billion
property transfer taxes—$2.2 billion
other taxes and fees—$0.2 billion
And NY needs federal funding? With what they're collecting revisit their budget and cut accordingly.
Oh wait... they gave out free SUNY tuition and pay to revive junkies. Forgot. Priorities.
It's just more red state / blue state revenge politics.
Red states will get money to engage in needed infrastructure repair; for blue states it will be deemed "wasteful liberal spending." You'll see...a lot more if this to come in 2018.
Amazing that conservatives scream about states' rights yet want to make two states pay completely for a tunnel/train project that they do not own or control, for something that is federally run. Amazing what political divisiveness will do.
Also, if anyone would read, they would know that the two states were going to cover half this project and the other half was to be federally funded. So NY and NJ were not off the hook.
