With regard to the OP perhaps NY and NJ ought to introduce bond measures on a state/local ballot and see if their citizens want it bad enough. If they do then they will pay.

You left out a lot of states that have rail lines connecting into that tunnel...

This is a massive mass transit area benefitting not just us living here, but any visitors from both the country and whole world - and there are a lot of them. This is NOT just a NY/NJ/or even East Coast thing. If they let this infrastructure fall apart, a lot of people are getting screwed over and a lot of travel plans will be hindered as well as daily commutes. It is not our fault, living here, any more than it is yours that the government is not doing its job here, or anywhere else.
So you agree that the Feds should let the state and local government fund such things?

I live in Houston and I don’t think someone in Phoenix should pay dime one to help us who CHOOSE to live where hurricanes hit.

Oh I absolutely agree. Other states shouldn't have to pay for the billions Harvey did to your own state. Your taxes should pay for it.

Yep, and that should be true with every state.

CA should pay for their earthquakes, fires and flooding, OK for tornado damage, etc.

If Boston wanted a 500 quadrillion dollar tunnel, they should have paid for it.

If Chicago wants more tax money to help their citizens, they should raise their taxes.

I agree with this and florida should have to pay for our own natural disasters as well, you would see alot more stricter zoning , alot less insane growth, alot more smart growth in Florida if people in Florida had to pay for it. Same with Sandy in NJ

The real parasites are around Washington DC and the Virginia and Maryland suburbs right around DC. The wealthiest counties in America leeching off the American taxpayer.

You are only pointing out the blue states. Red states have much more natural disasters though. And they can't afford them. Maybe they should be taxed more

Both Texas and Oklahoma are red states.

If the residents of those states want disaster assistance, they need to have their states impose a tax to cover it.
