It certainly is a very interesting time. Very-high profit margin slop and shopping sprees at stores are people's main form of entertainment.

OP needs a serious checkup for dementia/schizophrenia. The post history is asinine and displays a chronic paranoia of urban/social settings.

According to the OP, the best life possible is in suburbia N. Dakota, which registered -24 F the other day. The OP probably appreciates a less crowded Waffle House, Chipotle, and Buffalo Wild Wings at his local strip mall in the middle of the Bad Lands of the Dakotas. I bet the OP never misses his Tuesday night $5.99 special at Appleby's every week.

Hmmm, you may have a point. I was really into all that stuff in the 80's, the free concerts in the park were great. I still go out, but the huge events are a such a hassle now. I tend to frequent the smaller venues, the parking is cheaper and so on.

Did you forget the milkshakes before hitting the martinis?

Remember which so many forget, Utube can do anything one can do with a recorder and make it look real. If anything, depending on where you live there are more picnics, parades, outdoor activities than there were 30 years ago. People have always enjoyed have a drink at a bar, eating a fun meal once in awhile, and yes, going to concerts and movies. I am guessing you are very young and basing you ideas on fake videos.

What's this post really about? You think people eat too much so you sneak it in by saying people don't do other things outdoors.

OP, why don't you go to outdoor events? Why do you spend so much on "martini's"? Why do you eat so many high-calorie meals?

Surely you are including yourself in your assessment of how "people" live, no?

actually when it comes to eating, I think people, especially young people are more aware of calories and healthy eating today than they were back in the 80s. Most of the reason for so many of us being overweight does have to do with lack of activity, but that comes from tech. We have computers which were new in the 80s, we have so many convenient housework gadgets even the remote control. I could go on and on. and BTW we spent plenty of time drinking those martinis but they weren't $15.

OP; you sound a little self righteous to me and really have littlle knowledge of what life and fun was 30 or 40 years ago.
