But, here’s my counter point….there’s several red states with worse child poverty rates. So, does that mean “conservative” policies are to blame?

So, if we're going to demonize CA....then let's also demonize the many other red states that rank so low in many areas as well.
You missed the whole point of the truth though. Show proof those red states are conservatives. Show proof they have lowered taxes, cut back on spending and became smaller government wise. If they haven't, which almost all states have not, then it's dishonest to call them conservative.
Many republicans like to spend as much as the dems, only the hand picked winners and losers change.
