Well, to be honest. The Great San Fran Earthquake, didn't need any Federal money to clean up and rebuild, Neither did the Great Hurricane in Galveston, turn of the last century. Both areas restored faster than New Orleans, after Katrina with no Federal help.
You would be surprised how people in communities come together to help each other, no money asked.

You are seeing it in and around the Houston area today, after the Hurricane. Neighbors helping neighbors.

California has the same inequality as (red) Louisiana. Funny we're not hearing you rant against Louisiana these days. Close behind it include the red states of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas (GINI coefficients of 0.5 for CA and 0.48 for the others). Purple Florida is even closer at 0.49. So, why don't we hear from you how horribly unequal Louisiana, Alabama and Georgia are?

California is number 5 in income inequality.

I actually don’t care that much about it, but liberals, who talk about it incessantly, don’t actually seem to care about it when the people or states are liberal.

I just like pointing out the hypocrisy.

If the richest person in the US were a conservative who owned an oil company, you’d hear about it all the time.

Because Bezos gives primarily to Democrats, it doesn’t seem to matter that over his 20 year Amazon career he has made nearly $5 BILLION a year.

And if we factor in that California has a lot of high paying high skilled jobs (which always tend to increase inequality) the situation is even worse for red rural states with few high earners.

The free north was actually growing faster than the south from 1800 to the 1850s. This is why 91% of the foreign born population lived in the free states and the north had far more people, far more canals, far more miles of railroad tracks, etc.... You could make an argument that the immigrants were providing cheap labor to northern manufacturing.

The South during your time period had wealth concentrated far more in the hands of a few than the North. Keep in mind, most white southerners in antebellum America were not well off.

Get over your envy. They also employ thousands of Americans.

We live in the United States. Inequality within a state which is part of a union where free movement of people is possible isnt really that interesting. Now with Trump trying to make it even more difficult for states to raise revenue, inequality is likely to increase further.

I wonder which state has the highest illegal alien influx in the nation. Could this explain some of the economy growth?

ROFLMAO!! Statistica, lol.

Let’s take a look at an actual real study: The Increasingly Unequal States of America: Income Inequality by State, 1917 to 2012 | Economic Policy Institute

The top 1% to the 99% ratio for California is 34.9 while Louisiana is 23.9.

Not even close.

Most of the super rich are liberal Democrats, and that is ignored because of their politics.

Most liberals give them a pass as they screech about inequality.
