The difference is the constant drum beat coming from the left hating on the rich and demanding they pay higher taxes. And when blue state rich may have to pay higher taxes because their local gov't high taxation they scream. In other words it's shows they are hypocrites.

Appears the real world isn't what you thought. Now, are you going to put in the work involved in building a coherent world view, or are you going to look for a reason to hold on to your old notions?

And what is considered rich these days? Obama said it was $200k/$250k a year. But the real meaning of wealth is not income, it's assets. If you earned $200k this year would you be rich? Could you live on $200k for the rest of your life including buying a mansion, a yacht etc.

What in effect these states have done is to push the cost of their higher taxes to the entire nation, by allowing these dollar for dollar write offs. The federal treasury was subsidizing these states higher taxes, now that this is gone the citizens will now go to the only source left for taxation aggravation; their State legislature which will be reminded of their errant ways, and dare I say tax revolts...

It really depends on what 'rich' means. The OP is saying a person who pays $500K ($10K in taxes) for an apartment in NYC is 'rich', but the truth is that $500K will get you a studio which is less than 300 sq ft, not to mention that it usually takes 30 years to pay for such studio.

This was a master stroke of genius to amend the tax code in such a way as to show the DNC for what they are. Since the citizens of these states will now have to pay for these tax and spend policies by themselves.

Obama said rich was $200k single / $250k if married. He was convinced to increase rich to mean $400k / $450k before increases tax on the rich to make them pay their fair share. You didn't have a problem with either of Obama's definition, in fact you supported Obama's definition of rich.

I don't recall supporting, or opposing it.

You are arguing that a person who can afford a 300 sq ft studio is rich, which I disagree with.

Your problem is you allowed tax and spend politicians to ream you but since you were able to short change the rest of the country by deducting it off federal taxes they got away with taxing the bejesus out of you.
No clue what that means. I pay property taxes in FL, and no one asks me if I allow it, or disallow it.

I wouldn't live in NY. I pay less for A LOT more and my local taxes are still below the $10k cut off. No worries, your politicians will blame the federal gov't in hopes that you'll follow their lead and ignore it's they who are taxing the chit out of you.

I think the big news here is that the 4.5m Californians and 2.8m New Yorkers who voted for Trump are really just rich libs who deserve what's coming. Bizarre.
