Most people likely hope they are doing something that will work out but its seldom a major part of a strategy when things don't go according to plan.
Hope was part of a lot company strategies too unfortunately. When lenders suspended belief in age old lending standards they replaced it with hope that either the obviously unqualified borrower would pay him back or they could dump the turd of a loan off on someone else.

Agree !!! When we lose everything we are still left with hope. Its handy when the tax man shows up and people hope they can outrun him/her. We can forgive the loan they say but you need to pay taxes on that which you no longer have.

I had a dream last night that the Dow was crashing by, like, 15,000 points one day. In this dream it got down to, like, somewhere in the 7,000's at one point, at which point even I said, "Wow, this is cheap, I'm getting in!" Then it recovered somewhat before the end of the dream, but I don't remember how high it recovered to.

And the Dow is currently at about 22K after Mnuchin's stupid phone calls from his taxpayer funded Mexican vacation. Today is typically a light trading day - we'll see where it ends up.
