You just want another "go along to get along" President. At least he tries to solve problems rather than cogitates on why something just cannot be done.

The economy is going well. I just wonder why Trump wants the Fed to lower rates and bring back quantitative easing? And I ask that in all seriousness.

He's solved jack **** so far. He's definitely pushing trading partners away from us and towards China though

I don't know that he does, or just wants to jawbone against further tightening. This economy does not have an inflationary feel to it, unlike the economy in 1972 when published inflation rates were similarly low.

I don't know enough about economic trends to speak intelligently on the subject. I was just curious about what that was all about.

I wish it were that simple.

Inflation rates were in the % range during the early to mid 1960's and 2-3% area during parts of 1966-7 and in late 1971-2. There were strikes and other disturbances, as well as price surges in commodities that indicated that inflation was ready to burst. This in large part forced the U.S. off the gold standard, for example, on August 15, 1971. Commodity markets have been relatively tame lately as, on a year-over-year basis have gasoline and crude oil prices.

That's why good trade deals with reciprocity is important. It makes things workable and more simple for everyone. We don't have to disadvantage ourselves and help other nations take advantage of us.
