Just saw a flash about how stocks are down 3% in response to Trump's "confusion" about the trade deal with China.

How embarrassing is this? The "incredible deal" turns out to be an incredible nothingburger and the market suffers.

Go ahead 401K make my day !!!

Today: U.S. stocks battered again in one of the worst days of 2018 due to U.S. China trade deal.
The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 799 points, or 3.1 percent, to close at 25,027. The Standard and Poor’s 500-stock index fell 3.2 percent, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq gave up 3.8 percent.

Gosh, what happened to that "incredible deal"? (Trump's words after dinner with President Xi last weekend)
Trump later said China had committed to buying large amounts of U.S. agricultural products and completely removing all tariffs on U.S. automobiles. Only thing: China nor Trump's own officials could or would confirm this.

So, today, we are back at Trump Tariff by Twitter.

All I heard about the 'new' deal with China is it was the same proposal the Chinese offered before Trump laid the tariffs on them. In other words, if Trump resets it back to where it was earlier, the Chinese offer the inducements. A re-set back to zero for both nations.

I guess we'll see if that happens. It would mean Trump would have to do away with all the other tariffs, as all the other nations may follow China's lead.

The Chinese have made great inroads into our international market since the tariffs began. They have all the intellectual expertise in design, engineering, and everything else that they can bring into big projects that were once the territory only the Americans could handle before, and the Chinese don't interfere with their customer's internal situations.

And, of course, the Chinese raw materials are put to use in those projects. Dams, big generation stations, high-rise buildings, etc. Muti-billion dollar projects.

The Chinese don't care how much bite the tariffs take. They can make up their losses easily, and there is no reason for them to cave in to Trump. Their first offer is the best he'll ever get, and even that one won't last forever.

MARKET NEWS: Dow plunges 600 points on jitters over China trade deal
I know, who would even make a thread boasting about the economy, when these things can change on a dime. The markets are too uncertain to be bragging on, unforeseen world events can change everything, as we live in a global economy. This would be the last thing I would put myself out there boasting about, you could be looking real silly in no time at all.

No one said that. I think most agree is a combination of factors that have all been mentioned here.

Trump fits the description of some people I know who can somehow make a decent situation worse, a middlin situation horrible and a bad situation into a complete nightmare. Nothing he touches has ever been spared. I was a property owner near Atlantic City when he worked his magic there. Not only did he lose billions in the CASINO business, but he took taxpayers, bondholders, contractors and everyone and anyone else in reach for 100's of millions. Then he bragged about it.

Ya gotta wonder how anyone can think this is a "success" story. Turning Gold into Poop isn't exactly the alchemy that earlier chemists envisioned.

Trump would turn the Last Supper into a total disaster.
