Clearly you have no grasp of how oil reserves work.
Please do tell us. More supply on the world market means lower energy costs. More domestic supply means we could become a NET exporter, and help our balance of trade. It also HURTS Russia as they are dependent upon energy revenue. Lower prices mean they get less revenue. As they are essentially an enemy, that is a good thing, because they can use that revenue for their armed forces.
This guy is totally disgusting. Was he so enthralled by the Deepwater Horizon explosion and spill that he'd like to see more? There should be a rule that when the oil spills happen, Trump, Zinke and all their greedy flunkies have to personally go out and scrape oil off of animals and clean up the beaches.
It is actions like this that make people hate Trump even more.
I bet you utilize quite a bit of petroleum products every single day.
AWESOME! Way past time to stop importing oil and sending American dollars offshore. Let alone to add to American job growth!
More jobs!
Less financial support for Islamic terrorism!
Reduced fuel prices!
Drill baby, drill!
MAGA
Given his support for Islamic nations, and disdain for American workers, it is no surprise that Obama not only failed to do this, but actively fought US energy production on public lands.
A few things. First, the US has an excess of domestic oil. However oil is a private industry and is sold on the private market. Unless you want the government regulating the American oil industry it will continue to export and import oil.
Second, offshore wells are expensive. With the price of oil being what it is the cost of drilling offshore means that Trumps move is for show. There’s been no intent from major oil firms in the US to drill offshore since oil crashed. It’s simply not financially advantageous.
Third, fuel prices won’t likely decrease because that would require oil companies to drill offshore. As previously pointed out, that’s not likely going to happen.
Only on private property. It went DOWN on publicly owned land-which is what the president can impact. So...oil production went up IN SPITE OF Obama, not due to him. Now-imagine if we had drilled on public lands? Not stopped the construction of pipelines? If he had not done everything in his power to cripple the industry? Thankfully-like most of his efforts-that failed to work as intended as well.
For all the complaints made by some about the difficulties of federal leasing for drilling on public land, it was a walk in the park here in ND. Wells are found all over BLM land as well as state land. I do believe the number of wells located on public land here is well over 1,000.
Overall though Obama had very little impact on the oil industry. Likewise, this decision by Trump will do little for the oil industry as well. Offshore wells are expensive, the price of oil simply doesn’t make drilling offshore profitable.
Is there oil around the Trump golf courses in Scotland, Ireland and Florida? Put oil rigs in those brochures.
Obviously you know nothing about the oil in the North Sea and the Gulf.
