Wasn't your 401k doing well for the last 8 years? If not, why not? The stock market has been on an upward trend since Feb 2009.

No, the left doesn't want the US to fail. The left doesn't understand the hypocrisy from the right. Why can't you guys acknowledge that the past few years under Obama were not the hell you claimed it was for the job market?

We don't perceive last years job growth as bad news....but rather, we cram to understand how it's outstanding news, when just years before, the numbers were better, and the right claimed it was horrendous.

...and the lower the unemployment figures go, the fewer unemployed persons we will have, and the fewer people we will have who need to find jobs every month. What is so difficult to understand about that?

I already responded to you.

Remember during one of the debates, when a jobs number similar to this one came out, Trump mocked Hillary for such a poor number? Now that we're getting similar - and even worse - numbers under Trump, suddenly we have good economic reasons for such poor performance!

Now, what's even funnier is, now that the Trump apologists are acknowledging this, they have little choice but to also acknowledge what Eli34 pointed out in post #16: If you have mediocre jobs growth - for legitimate reasons or otherwise - you're going to have mediocre GDP growth. The combination of both is going to make the predicted Trump boom look like a joke.

Things are going to look like Japan or much of western Europe: Low unemployment rates but also low growth. And with Trump scaring off immigration we're going to get low population growth too, which will further slow down economic and job growth, and make the US look even more like western Europe or Japan.

During the eight years of the 0bama presidency, part-time employment remained historically high, and economic growth remained historically low, what is so difficult to understand about that? This is not some Jedi mind trick, it's a fact.

Already acknowledged, the chart above shows that job growth has been excellent after we elected a Republican Congress in 2010. Every year since then, job growth has been minimally double the years that Harry & Nancy drove the economy into the ditch.

The measure of US economic growth is the GDP. We never saw even one year, under 0bama's eight years in office, where we had an annual GDP growth of 3 percent, that is a sluggish economy.
And you might not see it under Trump, at the rate the stock market is going, it's only a matter of time before we see a correction.

Starting in 2009, we had a huge, and historic, spike in part-time employment. Part-time unemployment figures remained artificially high under 0bama's two terms in office.

Even if the U3 number remains flat, we can still see jobs switch from part-time, to full-time, and not see any change in the actual U3 unemployment figures.

I predict that we will see part-time employment decline as full-time employment increases until it aligns with the norms before 0bama took office.
First off, Our Dear Leader is proclaiming his policies have already had impact on the US economy.

The number of part time workers for economic reasons (ie they want full time) has been on a downward trend since 2011.

Who is doom in gloom? America was Great before Trump. It will be Great after Trump.

Then why is it worse when we have both a republican congress and president? You're almost admitting that divided power produces the best results.

Exactly when Boehner and the Republicans took over and drove the US economy out of the ditch Nancy and Harry drove it into.
