Any passing student of MLK knows, at least somewhat, how radical he really was.

Please stop with the fake outrage over the memory of MLK. Those in the know, know better.
Exactly.

When he was alive, MLK was actually quite reviled by the powers that be, because he was challenging their authority. No surprise.

Other sports stars who challenged the system - Muhammad Ali, Curt Flood, Tommie Smith and John Carlos - were also strongly criticized at the time. However, history has treated them much more kindly.

Kapernick may very well follow in their footsteps - he's taking the heat now, but in time he'll be honored.

Take that, haters.

Would he still be fighting for rights that have already been afforded? Doubtful. Would he be fighting for equality of outcome now that equality of opportunity has been afforded? Also doubtful... He would probably be lamenting the disintegration of the black family and speaking at funerals in Chicago.
Funny to hear a bunch of mostly white cons who would have opposed MLK back in the day pretend like they can speak for what he would say today.

You conveniently left out the fact that police homicides is what led to the whole Kaepernick kneeling thing, not "equality of outcomes.". So you're being disingenuous right out of the gate

how do you know I am white?

how do you know cons would oppose MLK?

yes police homicides where in many cases the perpetrator tried to escape or attack the officer, and also ignore that there have been whites who have been unfairly shot by the police

Name ONE contemporary of MLK you've supported in the last 20 years. Every single prominent civil rights activist has lacked a race hustler by people like you. You expect us to believe you a. actually respect MLK and his movement, and b. wouldn't hate him today like you hate every other person talking about Black issues you don't want to hear. Riiiight...lol

That was my first observation as well.

The way some people get so riled up about Colin Kaepernick and are so quick to attack him in any way they can, it is unsettling.

So kinda like Obama. White mother raised in a white world. Only turned black when he could make a buck offa his black side.

Sure.

I'll take that as someone who supports Kaepernick's rights as an American. Better than OJ who only embraced his blackness when he was on trial for a double murder.
